Just wondering if there is a tool that is in game that I am missing. I am having fun desging new ships as tech becomes available. I know I can hit an old design and hit upgrade and that design will be upgraded with all stuff. BUT, that only upgrades the design, not my fleet(s). I found in the 'ships and bases' screen I can retrofit all my ships, however I have to select each ship one at a time and click retro, select the design and hit ok. with 60 frigates this can be a bit tedious. Is there a feature that allows us to to upgrade all ships of design X to design Y? This would be most helpful.

Personally I avoid using the Upgrade design button because of issues that can cause glitches like what if you upgrade a design that is currently being built?

So I ALWAYS use Copy as New, then just implement a Mk2 version. So if say I had a SuperStardestroyer Mk1, then I would Copy As New, make my changes and rename it to Mk2.

this was requested before and actually you can shift select from the ships screen any ships you want upgraded and then hit upgrade....if they are of the same class (like frigates in your case) than you can indeed mass upgrade them

By the way, what happens if you 'upgrade' a desing AFTER you retrofit a bunch of them? Using either the auto methood OR your own copy methood?

I suppose you mean after you've ordered them to retrofit, but before they've actually been retrofitted?

Well, logically they're ordered to retrofit to a specific design, e.g. Deathstar MK2. If you use the upgrade function on that design, it will obsolete the Deathstar MK2 design. However, it will still 'exist' and show up if you untag the 'hide obsolete designs' in the ship design window. As such, I expect they'll still be retrofitting to Deathstar MK2 and not Deathstar MK3, though it's been so rare in my game I'm not completely sure. If you use the Copy New thing, the old design will not even be made obsolete and they should definitely still retrofit to the Deathstar MK2 design.

Raap is correct, I also asked this at some point and Elliot confirmed it works like Raap detailed
