1. CC1: Normandy
2. CC2: A Bridge too Far
3. CC3: Russian Front
4. CC4: Battle of the Buldge
5. CC5: Normandy
6. Wacht am Rhein
7. Cross of Iron
8. The Longest Day
9. Last Stand Arnhem
10. Modern Tactics
11. The Road to Baghdad

Also, what is your favorite campaign style for CC? Do you like:

1. Linear Campaign: a la CC3 Russian Front, Cross of Iron
2. Grand Campaign: a la CC4, 5, Wacht am Rhein, The Longest Day, Last Stand Arnhem.
3. No Campaign: a la Modern Tactics.
4. Suggest a new alternative for CC campaigns.

My picks are:

10. Modern Tactics: I like having a CC with modern weapons and vehicles
&
2. Grand Campaign: I wish CCMT had a grand campaign

Oh Close Combat. I saw Combat in the title and just overlooked Close. No, no I don't have a favorite Close Combat I never could get into it because the graphics are so small. I need LARGE graphics of tanks and men these days. My eyes ain't what they used to be

I don't have them all in my collection, but from what I did purchase from the old and new series:

1) CC2: A Bridge Too Far - I suspect "Last Stand Arnhem" will supplant this whenever I get around to buying it.
2) Cross of Iron
3) CC3: The Russian Front
4) The Longest Day
5) Wacht am Rhein
6) CC4: Battle of the Bulge

I never did get around to buying CC5: Normandy, but now that I have TLD I don't miss it.

I would rank the Close Combat game engine as one of the best ever in the history of wargaming.

I would rank Steel Panthers: Generals edtion as the best ever. Followed closely by Combat Mission x1 and then Panzer Command.

I've played all but CC1 and Road to Baghdad. I have RtB but never got around to playing it.

Cross of Iron with Gross Deutschland 2 mod is on my hard drive. I have also bought WAR and TLD but COI still appeals to me. I guess I just love the Eastern Front era.

Correct, something none of the following games and mods could replicate the interaction of IMO.

I only played CCIV and CCV and of the two I liked V better in just about every way.

Either CC2 or CC3, both of which I played to death in the day. Haven't bought any of the new ones after Modern Tactics, though.

Close Combat 3 will always be a classic for me.

Didn't enjoy CC IV or V nearly as much as 3. I have no interest in buying the remakes.

CC V it was cleaned up and had a strat element
CC III best for following individual soldiers and tanks by name from battle to battle

Don't recall CC II its been 13 years since I played it. Would not bother putting the so called new CC's on my i7 920. I would go nuts trying to scroll in for a closer look.

1-6, all the re releases, all the commercial and military releases and of course all the mods, which goes without saying is what kept CC alive lo these long years.

Then again I am a bit biased
