playing Axis GC.Is it a good strategy to slow the advance of armour to let infantry catch up,as well as make rail repairs? Its turn 5 and getting some serious resistance at Dneiper river as well as Kiev.

I would go hell bent with your armor and good deal of your infantry, leave only a few inf. behind to finish off pockets.  Flow like water when you can (while not endangering your panzers to being cut off).  If you plan it right you can cross the Dneiper before heavy resistance is there, shoot for turn 3.  Use the hot key 'e' to help you advance, it will show you where enemy ZOC are so you can by pass most of them.  By slowing your armor your giving away their advantage.  Sure your going to run low on fuel, but by then your meeting resistance and your 'fast' infantry will be catching up so you can rest your panzers if need be until there is an opportunity to break out again.
