Playing the Netherlands scenario as the Netherlands with Germany as the AI and the game consistently crashes during the AI turn resolution. Using version 1.20 on a Windows 7 machine. Save file is attached and I can provide more information if you need it.

Edit: Got this file to work by selecting stop a couple of times during the AI's turn, but then I sometimes get unhandeled exception errors during the AI's turn. The details from the unhandeled exception errors are shown below if it helps.

First one:
See the end of this message for details on invoking

Ok this is puzzling.

First of all thank you for taking the time to past the error message here. its appreciated.

but to be honest not immediatly illuminating.

Did you do anything different from your previous games? is the bug repeatable if you close Decisive Campaigns and start it up again? is it only in the Netherlands scenario or also in other scenarios?

Did you maybe change the screen resolution while the game was running?

let me know please.

best regards,
Vic

Oh and also post a dxdiag file if possible... see the sticky topic in this forum for how too.

thanks very much for taking the time.

best,
vic

Dxdiag is attached.

The error occurred even after I closed the game and restarted and was repeatable. I got the same error message every time I ran the AI's turn. I didn't do anything different before the program stopped responding except maybe run some different programs at the same time the game was running (I always have at least a few programs open on my machine at once).

Wish I could give you some more information. However, since I got the game to somewhat pass the error I at least didn't have to restart the game.

Hi Rocket,

Just curious here. Could you do a small test and lower your screen resolution somewhat and see if it is still repeatable then?

thanks a lot, but so far i am still at a loss how this bug is caused.

best regards,
Vic

I ran the saved game with my smaller 1920x1080 monitor as the primary display and it crashed three times during the "systematical finetuning" after the IXL Corps Round percentage completed on steps 9,10 and 11. However, when I ran it again with DC running in the background the game didn't crash (tried this twice and it worked both times), which is really odd. Note when I say background I mean the game was still running and showing on my main display (which I had switched for this test) while I had another application (Firefox) active on my secondary display.

If you need any more information please let me know, however this is the only time I have had a problem with the game it this error seems like a pretty obscure one to me.

As an aside, "systematical" is not really a word, you should use "systematic" or "systematically" and fine tuning should be two words, not one.

Do you have two monitors attached?
The game has not been tested to support that. It might be the cause. I have no clue what sort of implications it can have to be honest.

I will see what i can do in v1.04 though to fix this issue.

best regards,
Vic

Yes I have two monitors. One is at 2560x1440 resolution and the other one is at 1920x1080. I didn't know the game hadn't been tested to support a two monitor setup but it has been working fine except for this one error. I am not too worried about this error, I just thought you would be interested to know of it. Unfortunately it doesn't seem I can provide enough information at this time to solve this minor problem but I'll let you know if I have any additional problems or you can let me know if you need any more information.

as a work around you can set the option Hide AI Moves in the scenario setup screen. i keep looking at it. is it only the Netherlands scenario or all scenarios?

I have only played the Netherlands Scenario and the Bzura scenario so far and I have played both of them as each side. I only saw the error playing the Netherlands scenario as the Dutch.

It would be interesting to know if the error still repeats if you disable one of your monitors? if it is gone then we have found the source of the issue.

best regards,
Vic

I tested the save file under numerous conditions and got some widely varying results. When I originally made the save I was playing 1.2 Beta but I am now using 1.3 Beta. With 1.2 Beta, the file crashed every time I ran the turn. Now with both monitors active the file crashes sometimes, gives me an unhandled exception error sometimes and runs without error sometimes. I tried running the file with both monitors active and with only one monitor active. With only one monitor active I never had the game crash, but I did get one unhandled exception error out of 5 or 6 runs of the file.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

This issue will be very probably resolved with v1.04.... which I hope to get in BETA in at most a few weeks.
