I gather from reading the promo material; that there are different Spacecraft engine technologies (which I would expect), but that these different engine types require different fuels.

My questions are would we need to have different fuel stocks at our refueling facilities, and can resupply ships carry two or three types of fuel at the same time?

There are 2 fuel types Casion and Hydrogen. Yes,resupply ships can carry both types. The great thing about resupply ships is they can also mine these fuels when deployed. The drawbacks for deployed resupply ships are they cannot move right away (takes about 30 seconds to redeploy) and they can be destroyed easily.

Thanks hadberz for the info, the strategic and tactical possibilities in this game keep getting better, and better.

hadberz, is it possible to design resupply ships as well? Assuming it could be done, I like the thought of being able to give them tougher defenses than is standard.

You probably can, like in similiar games with ship design. Yet, if you do then you have some less of a purposeful supply ship and some more of a partial warship.

Yes, you can design them.

On the same topic more or less, can you drop capital ship with resupply source and have it support the mainfleet with long distance guns and refuelling? :)

You mean resuply mobile base?
Then yes.
You mean big enoug capital ship with refueling deots and with a lot of fuel supplies but with less guns and armor then yes. Propably you can do it.

Nawh, I know mobile resupply base can be done, but I rather mean large warship that pays some of its power and tonnage for refuelling ability of fleet it is commanding. You know, selfsufficient warship with fleet of smaller ships :)

Similiarly to Battlestar Galactica or Bastion in Freespace. Well not completely selfsufficient but enough for VERY long engagement and space travel etc.

Propably it is possible.
You trade armor and guns for fuel cargo.
Dozen of destroyers + capital ship as tanker = long range raider fleet
Long range raider fleet + stealth = nasty surprise

But I dont think so if you can mount rafinery on capital ship. To make fuel you propably need base.
