Hi folks,

Looking to get AE and use the discount for having WITP (by tomorrow I believe it is ). Question though ... is the manual a) accurate enough to be worth getting (as they goo out of date etc) and b) necessary due to changes from WITP to AE? I remember I managed WITP without a hard copy manual but haven't played it for a year or two

Basically trying to decide on pure download vs download and hard copy.

Thanks!!

Yes, I think it's necessary. I made the mistake of not getting a hard copy and now I have to go back and forth. But that's just my opinion I'm sure other players will say they don't need it.

There is a lot of talk even on these forums about what the manual won't tell you, but you'd be surprised how MUCH information IS in 330 pages

i LOVE the manual.

seriously.  without question, the only game i've ever owned that i could say that about.

mine is always on my desk, ready to hand.  it has about 50 post-its stuck in it... and pretty much every page has something underlined.

do not make the mistake of *not* getting the hardcopy!

I'm late to the party but in case you want it, here is my dissenting vote:

I am happy not having the manual, and I think if I had paid for it I would have regarded that as a waste of money. Why? Because I printed out some of the tables in the manual that are sometimes helpful to refer to. Other than that, having the PDF is just fine. You can switch out of the game to look at the manual without it crashing, or even run the game in windowed mode if you like (I use full screen but I have heard a lot of folks use windowed mode).

Sure, there are some omissions and errors in the manual and will be more as patches change the game. But the manual is fine - in fact it's a good piece of work and quite valuable. Especially if you are learning the game. Still, using the PDF has worked out very well, especially having printed out some helpful reference tables.

The bottom line for me is "Great manual but not worth the money to buy a printed copy."

I know my post is late but given my view is different than that of other folks who answered I figure it might help to see an alternate opinion.

As others have stated many times

Witp, Witp AE is way worth the money for time spent!

Thus the manual even though not perfect is worth the money just to clarify a few things during turns.

Once again in the long run a minor cost in our lives vs the gain.

Thanks again Matrix's for all the enjoyment you have brought me (ps my wife does not agree with any statements made here!)
