I just heard this from TV (in english):

quote:

Finnish peacekeeping forces have built saunas all over the world

I don't know why, but I found that funny

Not much else they could offer unless some 3rd world country needs some good quality mines and tank ditches. With no wars happening now in the world, mines and ditches are losing their appeal.

Uh oh-sounds like the Finns are developing some Roman type behaviors. Glad I don't live in that part of the world.

I think they had one of those in Operation Flashpoint, with the Finnish Defence Forces mod.

The Norwegian XA-186 is big and clumsy looking but goes like stink off-road. You can see it in action in the movie Double Team at the beginning Van Damme is driving it through road blocks and down a mountain.

And the clip in action - comedy at it's finest! What have the Romans ever done for us?

Clearly there were some benefits to being subjugated. The initial subjugation must have been the worst part.

A little "tongue in cheek" humor. As in (Romans) "we just want to help you and build some nice baths" while intending on keeping the area under firm control until dooms day.

On the other hand, bath houses and saunas may just be their way of meeting and having fun with the locals so to speak.  Maybe just another form of "subjugation"

Good point... dunno about that now. At least in 2nd World War finns used to invite visiting german allies to saunas. One german said something like: "Finns would have no problem in Hell"
