Could someone tell me what the capacities will be on the important scout ships like Tone , Mogami, Ise etc
I always felt that the capacity esp on Tone etc could not used fully or too low ??

Ilike all these kind of ships :)

Are any float planes restricted for ships now now?

Is there restrictions on Glenns from subs ( I kow and agree about the size issue ) , as these seemed a little to flexible ...

Cheers

Any takers

For instance I remember in gaming several years ago the Tone had 7 FP and I think in Janes ships it also had 7 . The Japs would have built these ships to operate a worthwhile number of planes and 4 or 5 does not seem enough to justify the effort ??

I was wondering what capacities were in AE

The early IJN CAs had facilities for 1 float plane; the Nachis, 2; the later CAs, 3; Tone and Chikuma, 6 (but they operated 5); Mogami (as rebuilt), 11 (operating less); and the battleship conversions, 22.

OK but are these the values in AE , for instance Tone at 6 operating 5 - so how many will they have in the game ?

I suppose another point would be are the subject to limited number of ops like CV planes ??

Also the point about the AV , I saw model somewhere with these AV with the Emily .

Ask the dev team. I'm just giving you the real figures.

His question was to the Dev team...

Maybe matrix can make a new forum called Go ask Herwin so he can go to a place so he feels important. And leave us alone so we can discus the game without him insisting on us all the time.

Be Nice to Herwin, he has not done anything to you.

There's a green button you can use.

Some of us are gamers and some of us are modellers.

Perhaps messages should be classified: general, gamers-only, modellers-only. Then people could subscribe to what they want to see.

so if you want to talk about gaming on a gaming forum you need to specify?

No, but if you don't want the modellers to go off on their tangents (or the modellers want to talk about something that gamers could care less about), this would be a mechanism for filtering. Hey, maybe you'ld like a historian filter, too. We're all here.

But if you stay on topic there would be no need to filter...

The topic was, "Jap float plane capacity review in AE ?" and still is and has not been answered on topic yet.

I, personally, am interested in the answer to the topic at hand.

Come on guys, don't chew on herwin. He's only done what I have done so many times before, that is, try to be a help. How many times have we seen threads like this one, devoid of expert knowledge, which somebody, herwin in this case, tries to give the OP something to chew on until the cavalry (the experts) notice this thread and have a response?

Yup, but mr. Osterhaut does not understand that, please forgive him for that.

Cav, good questions.

Herwin, thanks for the historical info.

Now, can anyone on the dev team take the time to answer the above Q's??? Or are you all too busy playing AE?? While we sit and wait.....

One reason for asking this is that in theory you would have a thought that maybe with more hexes around a TF that more FP will lend an advantage. We now have 40 mile hexes instead of 60. So in theory these ships with a lot of FP are better and of more use than in WITP ?

I would also be curious to know what the ranges are in terms of hexes ??

No offense Herwin..you have provided good stuff in the past and I hope that you continue to do so in the future, but you do tend to confused some of us less knowledgeable people with historical data vs. in-game data.

Instead of 100 people trying to remember to qualify what type of info we are looking for, why don't you put a header within your posts that says HISTORICAL DATA or something of that nature. Then maybe these little spats will be less frequent.

The title of the post was ... Jap float plane capacity review in AE ?

I was hoping that historical 3 FP on a Nachi was also a game 3 on a Nachi

However my main point was that I thought the Jap FB capable ships seemed a bit short changed .Tone class for instance operated a full 6 in most references.

CA Nachi has three floatplanes in the AE, one E13A1 Jake and two F1M2 Petes. CA Tone has three FP. CA Mogami starts with three FP and later upgrades to eleven. BB Ise ends up with 22x E16A1 Paul.

Thus, to answer the original question, floatplane capacity has been reviewed in the AE.

Tone should have 2 x 3 fp units - sounds realistic
