After reading some posts about the difficulty in successfully employing the Von Schlieffen plan in GoA, I thought I'd give it another go to see if I could dispel this theory. So I intend to post a log of my actions and results as I majestically and quite publicly fail at this quest.

In the West: I start with Inf 1 thru 20 from 15,11(SE Liege) to 14,17 (SE Belfort) with 3 per hex except for 2 Inf in each mountain and 1 in 14,17. Inf 21 thru 28 start on the right behind the line from 16,11-16,13.
Art 1 at 15,11(SE Liege); Art 2 @ 15,12; Art 3&4 @ 14,13(SE Verdun) and Art 5 @ 14,14 (NE Nancy).
Bulow,Wilhelm,Hausen & Kluck on the front from Liege to Verdun, Albrecht@15,14 (2SE Verdun) and Ruppecht@14,15 (SE Nancy)

The western advance makes it to the outskirts of Lille but my enfilade right is unhinged by the third impulse French thrust north of Luxemburg. This gap must be filled but I will not stall the continued attack from Belgium into France. I hope to not waste any attacks on the British as they are not my priorty.

In the East the Polish campaign goes quite well. Thie solid north-south line should prevent the Russians from oozing all over eastern Germany and may draw some of its southern forces away from AH.

The Austro-Hungarian line is precarious. I must be ready to retreat to the mountains if Russia attacks my right with vigor. All depends on a successful German attack on France. The Serbian campaign may need to be reduced.

The loss of the cavalry in Serbia annoys me. Now if I can't redeploy a Cav there I'll be forced to waste more HQ points. I regret not putting 2 Cav in Serbia and not starting the Cav on the left of my Russian front.

September/October Strategic phase:
Germany R&D Gas
Buy 3 HQ,54 arms,2 artillery,2 R&D and 10 trench
Naval Refit UB2,DD5 and Koln; noticed I had Tr 3 & 4 in the Baltic ordered thier return; all others stay at sea
Except for 6 points to the 33rd Inf on the east all refit points spent on the western front from N to south.
Heeringen, Bulow, Wilhelm and Hausen refit
Built 1 Sub
AH Buy 1 HQ
Refit Franck and Dankl. Refit Infantry near Warsaw and Serbia as well as Lemberg.
Naval Eastern Med Patrol: Prinz Eugen, Tegetthoff, Maria Theresa and DD1

Naval results
North Sea Surface halves Nassau, Helgoland and Kaiser while only quartering HMS Bellerophon,St.Vincent and Colossus
Baltic see Blucher and Petropavlovsk continue to duel
Eastern Med has Prinz Eugen and Tegetthoff spar with Courbet , Jean Bart, Hms Formidable and Leviathan for quarter damage
North Atlantic British anti sub goes poorly as its 3rd DD is sunk by the UB after taking heavy damage passing the German North sea fleet.
The result is the Baltic is CP controlled, the eastern Med is contested and the rest are TE

Western Front November Start:
Sure enough France evacuated Verdun without a fight. I now suspect that there are substaintial French forces in Belgium, forcing France to denude the right to protect Paris and an open heartland.

The Austro-Hungarian East

The right is breaking. Serbia must fall soon or be abandoned. Hoping the Romanian overture pays off or that the Turks draw away the Russians.

Serbia:

At best 3 impulses and 2 HQ points will be need to finish them and Scutari won't fall on the first try so there goes at least one more impulse and one HQ point.
