This may have been answered and I can't locate the thread. Sorry

I'd like some kind of notepad or field where I can keep track of why I've formed a task force and what my intent is for that task force. For example, I'm playing the 1943 campaign as the American player and it is July 1st. Over the next 2 months I want to invade New Georgia, Lae/Salamaua and retake Wake Island. I might also retake the Aleutians.

I've been forming task forces, preparing to pick up troops, and loading supplies and fuel - a lot of task forces with different misisons. I'd like to see some sort of field with each task force where I could enter notes like "Load some supplies, join with tankers, move to Nouemea, pick up 1st Amphib Corp HQ, move to Lunga, participate in invasion New Georgia, "or "Move to Brisbane, pick up infantry divison, move to Gili Gili, join with landing craft, join with supply task force, invade Lae Salamaua." I find myself bringing up Notepad to record these things outsidwe WiTP. Would be helpful to have this feature inside WiTP.

When a game unfolds over months (yes, I do have a life outside WiTP) it can be hard to keep track of dozens of task forces w/o some sort of written notes. My spouse refuses to be my chief of staff and operations officer.

IIRC, in some of the screen shots you had the option of providing a name for TFs. You could come up with a short hand, such as "MvBrisPu38InvLae" (move to brisbane, pick up the 38th Inf Div, invade lae)

Don't know the answer about a formal notepad.

That is correct. You can "name" your TFs and that name appears when you mouse over it on the map. Its a handy feature.

Yamato hugger-Re naming TFs. How does one do this? If possible, I'd like a 1,2,3....

Or where do I go to read about this?

Thanks, Hugh Browne

Oh, this is so easy, even I can do it

Step 1) Pull up the TF screen. At the top you will see a "(No TF Name)" in yellow - click on it
Step 2) A pop-up dialog box will appear when you click it. Type in what ever you want.

Step 3) Push done. Thats it. It will appear on the TF screen, and when you mouse over the TF on the map.

Renaming task forces is a good idea.  I'd like to starting using names like TF 38, TF 17, etc.

Still, you can only cram so much info into a TF name.  A field or notepad where you can describe what the TF will be used for would be helpful.  But, if that feature means delaying AE, forget it.

Does it default to a TF number like currently? The screen shot seems to indicate the default is No TF Name.

The intention and most widely used purpose of this "name" field is to describe what the TF will be used for - it already has a "name" ...like TF1. But now you can call TFs

Tarawa 1s wave
Tarawa 2d wave
Tarawa supply
Tarawa baseforce
Tarawa BB support
Tarawa AO support

Brisbane Supply
Brisbane Fuel
Brisbane P40s

and so on .. .so this is your "notepad" to keep track of the purpose. You just have to figure out how to cram your purpose into the 20 chars allowed. But it is a whole lot better than the 0 chars you have in stock!

I think this might be my single favorite new feature so far. A lot of times it's the little things that make such a huge difference. Thanks to whoever pushed to add this and whoever coded it.

Very cool. In PBEM, I assume the other side can't see your TF "names"? Just the TF numbers?

This feature is NOT in Stock, but will be in AE or is in a mod used with WitP?

No, it wont be in WitP. Would require a database change to add it at this point. Maybe someday if the database size changes it will be added.

I don't see why it is called "change name" it seems more of a note pin following the example by Yamato Hugger. How do you keep track of them? will the changed note name appear in screen without hovering the mouse over every TF i suppose not, and in TF listings?

As a devout AFB this will really help in setting up my supply convoys. A simple, but extremely useful idea.

Thanks to the team!
