In several AAR's players take the great circle route to / bombard the Japanese Home Islands from the Aleutians then Kurlies.

Should winter weather effects be more severe? Causing effects similar to malaria in the current WIP game?

Other effects?

I hae plenty of Betty and Nells training up in Japan - some nice slow allid BB would ake good fodder. As a longstanding Jap player you secure most of that area and keep it patrolled . If you spot allied ships you recal long range Torp bombers for some fun.

I would love an allied player to try this

Well, as our fearless leader said earlier, in AE the same old strategies wont work. One of the things currently in AE is quite a few air squadrons that cant leave Japan. So the allies arent going to drop in to it totally wide open.

I'm thinking of frostbite / trench foot - miserable / marginal operating conditions these all cause casualties, wear, breakdown added waste of equipment and resources ameliorated by large bases / more comfortable quarters etc.

Thoughts / to late?

Bad flying conditions...especially in the summer (cold water, relatively warm air = fog and clouds). Higher than normal operational losses for aircraft that do fly. Greater system damage to ships...greater chance of running aground or dragging anchor and being forced aground (in nautical version of operational loss). Higher disruption/lower morale for ground troops possibly alleviated a little with very high supply levels. Winter storms perhaps rendering combat impossible.

There certainly are some penalties for operating in the Arctic in WITP, but I'm not sure whether they're harsh enough. I don't know whether AE will change this.
