They aren't state of the art, but someone may have a "lower" spec and want to upgrade for Christmas

Gigabyte AMD Motherboard (ATX) with 1xPCI-E, 4xPCI, 2xIDE, 1xFloppy
AMD Athlon XP 3200+ + heatsink and fan
2GB PC3200 DDR Ram (4x512MB sticks)

Looking for £40

I may even have a nVidia 7950GT 512MB to throw in for an extra £50...not sure on this yet.

UK only pls due to shipping

I'll find out the exact spec and make of the board tonight

Anyone interested?

JD, you might have better luck on Ebay selling individual parts.

If you donate the whole computer to charity, does your government give you a tax-deduction?

In the US, I've found that I come out ahead via donation, rather than sale.

The price of parts/systems over here simply falls off a cliff after they're used.

Conversely, I can claim 20% of the original value of a five-year-old system.

Not that I know of.

If they don't go, they go to the tip. I refuse to sell on ebay purely due to principle. Any site that allows you to bid for a christmas dinner has taken capitalism too far!

As for donating something to charity? in the UK??? There is so much red tape we trip over it evey second.

I tried to give a stereo system that I had to the Salvation Army (they deal with giving things out to the homeless and poor) and they said they didn't want it. It would cost them too much money to make sure it was ok...hence why we have become a throw-away society!

Never...just upgraded....I'm a self confessed graphics whore. I dig in depth gaming, but sometimes I just do pretty

What did you upgrade to?

I put some new parts in my desktop last spring making it only a couple years behind the curve, but I usually end up using our inferior laptop just because it is more conveniently located.

lol

Actually, I changed jobs lately and am now working 4 miles from home instead of 25. That means my petrol bill has been reduced from £180 a month to less than £60.

Further, because I'm only working 4 miles away, I've started cycling to and from work, which means we've become, once again, a one car family...being able to shed a car and all the bills that go with it has meant the savings have been going up.

In the first 5 months of this year, when I worked 25 miles away, my wife and I pumped £1300 into both cars just in petrol. In the latter 5, whilst working closer to home, we've spent less than £500. So I decided to use some of that money on a new computer

Still cycling. Great fun AND quick AND cheap AND great for your health.
