I have all three.
Legion of gold, is a poor man's spartan or gates of Troy game. In other words: don't waste your money. Get Gates Of Troy instead. Same exact game engine, but much more depth. Spartan is the predecessor to it, so don't get that one. Gates Of Troy is an updated version of Spartan.
As for the other two: EiA is a total disaster. I have come to find that many people, myself included, are in the same boat as Grell, and wanted to get an awesome ADG game only to find put that no one can understand the game and the tutorial is disgustingly bad. Wait 6 months and get ADG's other masterpiece in WiF. They are working diligently making sure this game comes out with much more fluidity than EiA. And Diplomacy is sort of a simple beer and pretzels type game. A game where you have to plan your strategy, and carry out your orders in the hope you can outsmart the AI. It's one of the few games out there where the AI is actually very unperdictable. It is a game based on the polotics and colonization of Asia and Africa leading up to the first of the world wars. What I would love to see is a game of diplomacy based on the politics that led to the second world war. For some reason, paradox and Avalon Hill, now Hasbro(YUCK) decided not to make such a game. Anyway, I hope this helps you.
