There is a great tank museum in Bovington, Dorset, U.K.

In Overloon (Netherlands, near Arnhem), there is another tank museum.

What part of Germany are you going to?  I really enjoyed Munchen (Munich).  You get to see some great architecture, BMW, and if you want a real sober experience, Dachau isn't far away at all.  Oh, and around Oktoberfest it's a madhouse!

Bovington is in Dorset, you could feasibly do it in a day probably 2- 2 and a half hours drive. Nice castle nearby at Corfe as well.

But if you are in London I would recommend the Imperial War Museum.

The tank museum in Munster is very good - I was there a few months ago. Some pics over at SimHQ:

Deutsches Panzermuseum

Was a great day.

Marc - do you know if there was anything special they were doing in the renovations?

I doudbt I will get to Normany, but may see Arnhiem,sp?, and Bulge areas...

Now rich, full bodied beer...Bulge/Ardennes...that must mean Belgian Trappist beer then!

And in which case, this is a nice place, if not exactly in the Ardennes:

Kulminator

Nope, german beer sucks
Just kidding.

IMHO they have the best beers in the world. Must be because the "Rheinheitsgebot" or something like that, meaning nothing but pure nature in it.

Well, it's kinda funny but I'm not saying anything about your mom but did you see the movie "Beer Fest" ?

You see the story is based on a couple of Colorado guys who hear stories from their German grandmother about the brewing family back home.

Funny, stupid funny. Stupid drinking dumb kind of funny.

You can take the train from London to Bovington. I think the train departs from Waterloo station.

In London there is also the Imperial War Museum, itself close to Waterloo station, the Infantry Museum in Chelsea and the splendid RAF museum in a suburb of London to the north.

Yea, I know there is a good german beer. Is'nt it called Heineken? You can tell I'm not a beer drinker.

Munich > down south (not much mil vehicles to see there)
Munster > way up north

If you are in the upper Rhine area (define that please ) you might want to give the "Wehrtechnische Studiensammlung" in Koblenz a chance. One of the biggest military exhibitions in Germany. It is opened daily from 0930am to 0430pm.

In the east of Germany at Dresden you will find the military history museum. Unfortunately it is still in renovation (they get a Libeskind building and re-do other buildings), but the permanent exhibition may still be visited though I do not know how many tanks they are showing. But you get better beer there compared to the Rhine as it is Pilsener.
