Do you mean computer games or something like "Boot Hill"?

I played a good Wild West RPG made by a Swedish publisher.

I agree that a good Western RPG would be cool to have. No FPS hybrid but a real
C-RPG.

Compter game.
Actually a computer of version of Boot Hill is exactly what I was thinking of.
I was reading a book 'wagons west' and thought of the old Oregon  Trail game.
Well  it seems that  ancient game is still the cutting edge for  wild west rpg.

Well, the FPS game "Outlaws" was quite a bit of fun. Not an RPG but still very cool.

There was for a while talk of an old west based MMORPG called "Frontier 1898" or something. I don't think it ever got off the ground. I was watching it closely for a few months but nothing was happening.

The old C64 had a game caled "6-Gun Shootout" that was not really an RPG but it was a little bit like Boot Hill and kind of fun in it's own way.

Oregon Trail was actually much more of a Role-Playing game than most of the stuff that gets the "RPG" label today. That was really a fun game too, or at least I think it is.

Edit: Of course OT isn't a "Western" in any sense, just making a comment. I don't think there are any Wild West themed computer RPGs out there at all. The original Fallout team could have made an incredible one though

For what it's worth even though it's a FPSer. "GUN" is an excellent one. I had loads of fun playing "GUN" unfortunately it's not open ended to be able to play it foreverlike. But, it does have a lot of content for the price I paid $4.00 well worth that price for the rpg adventure of it. The slow-mo matrixlike fights were a blast to play. I enjoyed the holdem tournaments in it as well. It would have been perfect if it had had unlimited bounties on npcs around the map.

GUN .I have looked at it , and if i see it for $4.00 i will definately get it.
I played call of Juraez which sounds very similar and is also a good fun game.

Odd there is no wild west type RPG / adventure.
There are hundreds of fantasy/dragon/ orc types but it seems little  exists outside the main genre.

Thinking about it where are the cyberpunk fallout apocalypse roadwar types
Laser Squad / robin hood / medieval germany rpg / twilight 2000 / space 1889 games ?

Man , you take your eye off  a genre for 10 years and look what happens !!

Now for RoadWar fun you should look around for "Roadwar 2000" I still think that is one of the most fun post apocalyptic games out there. It's strategy and rpg and has a pretty good replayability to it. I just recently picked up the Fallout series (I, II and Tactics) for $10 so I'm into that right now. Looks like I'll be busy for a few days or weeks at least. ;)

Here yah go Ezz Gun for $2.98 ;) Hope you live in the states somewheres.
