I was thinking about that Noble Armada project they canceled. I know
it was due to sickness or something.

My biggest disappointment was that I hoped this cooperation would result in a new
version of EFS. Perhaps the best flawed space strategy game ever.

Was this termination eternal or is there a slight chance you guys might end up
working together again? Can't just Matrixgames get the rights to redo EFS?

With proper AI and bugs sorted out it would put all other space strat games behind (even MOO2).

Much thanx to the rich background story. Here you had a Universe you really
cared aobut. Not generic races and planets. Every planet had its own history here.

The concept with the Church(yet far from their potential), Ministers and central administration was also genius. Here
you had something real to fight about. Then there was the Nobles you had to control. Simply one of the greatest game
designs I have seen.

The Alien threat idea was also cool but they were too weak in the end.

It's clear that this Universe was made by people passionate about Sci Fi Opera. Pity that their game development skills were a bit lacking.

Basically it says what I wrote. Very high potential, implementation lacking.

Sounds like they were hard to work with.

Maybe just buy the license to EFS without the coders?

That's a real shame.A fading suns sequel with a modern UI and graphics would own all.

Im guessing that creating AI for fading suns is like creating AI for witp: Not possible. Besides the code of fading suns is like 12? years old. I can only imagine what it looks like. Was it good in the first place? Would they have to rewrite everything? I doubt matrix has the resources.

You are correct most likely but I think the AI coding could focus on the Alien threat and the NPC.s(especially the "Pope").

The actual Noble sides should be human to have the good Diplomacy part. I can't imagine playing EiA against AI and I don't think
games like this work very well at all against AI. Just look at computer Diplomacy hehe.
