Did the IJN ever use APDs in an ASW role?

Nothing that can't be fixed with 4 AR's standing by near the Home islands to save torpedo stricken ships......

How often do you see a functionall ship hit by more than a single torp ???

If they have more than 20-30% sys damage, their cruise speed is reduced and they become easier to hit by multiple torps, but else...

By 1944 you have far better type C and D escorts, but now the main threat comes from allied DS.

In 1944 I've gotten 3-4 hits on undamaged merchant/tanker ships heading for Japan, but those are few and far between. I did have subs put 5 torpedoes into Kongo as she limped home from Truk, but it happened over several movement phases where she kept running into sub ambushes. No, she didn't make it to Japan...
