I have a few questions:

Is TOAW III a stand-alone game or do I need additional software to play?

Does the equipment editor work with TOAW III by itself or do I need additional software to get the equipment editor to work?

Is TOAW III playable as a download version or do I need a CD to play the game?

It is a stand-alone game.

The scenario editor is part of the game. The equipment editor is called the Bio-Editor (Bio-ed, for short) which is a freeware program originally developed for use with TOAW - Century of Warfare. TOAW III, from patch 3.1.0.9 onward, supports the use of the Bio-Editor for modifying the equipment database of TOAW III.

You do not need a CD to play the game, though IMO, it is always nice to have a physical backup copy, complete with silkscreening and printed serial number on it. Not to mention the nice printed manual that you will get with the physical copy.

...........And just maybe........AUTOGRAPHS!

Not likely, but could be an interesting selling point for CD's eh James...?

Of course, there would be some serious scrabbling for the 'silkscreened' copys of the 'insert', LOL!

One final question.  How do I obtain the bio-ed for TOAW III?

This is from the manual 'How to Edit the Equipment Database using “BioEd” ' :

First, you need to get a copy of BioEd and its associated files. They can be found here:

http://perso.orange.fr/yves.lr/Bioed/Bioed.htm

Be sure to download both the application and its associated ACOW files.

You won't regret it my fellow Texan.
I picked up TOAW in 2006 and by reading the manual, browsing the forums and asking questions I got into the game quite well.

..and from someone who's not part of "de' management"..

..yes stand-alone, yes BioEd, yes download..

..currently, if unofficially it goes from the 15C to somewhen in the future on a space-ship, planned is 1300BC to somewhen on a space ship..

Actually it currently goes to any time or era you desire. Such as the end of the Third Age . . .
