I'm trying to find reference material refering to the Canadian Army in Holland for scenarios I would like to design. So far I've come up empty. Cant find books I have seen years ago and web sites that look promising are "Not Found". Can anyone help me out here? McGib Ready Aye Ready

You may want to e-mail a Captain in the Canadian Armed forces. Failing that perhaps a call or visit to a Canadian Barnes and Nobles. I used to own a copy of "History of the Canadian Army in WW2" and it was an excellent book. There are Canadian sources out there they are just hard to find. best of luck, sven

I have some books in my library about the Canadian armies in WW2. They were published right after the war. If you let me know what battles you are interested in, I can look and see if there is information about them in these books. If I find anything, I will then have to figure out how to scan the info into my computer to E-mail it to you. Bear in mind that I live in the UK and from noon tomorrow (Friday 28 July)I will not be able to do anything about this until I am back from my summer holiday on August 12th. If you catch me before then I can certainly let you know if I have found something that may be of use to you. Letting you have it depends on how easy it is to scan it and E-mail it. If I don't have the right software, it may have to wait until I'm back. ------------------ Fabs

Fantastic Fabs. I'm looking for info on the battle for the Sheldt estuary. Units, maps, for both sides. The usual. If it has to wait till you come back thats fine. I would not want to delay or interfere with your holidays.

I own a book called "The official history of the Canadian Army: The Victory Campaign", by Col. C. P. Stacey, published by the Canadian Departement of National Defence. There are 33 pages dedicated to the clearing of the Scheldt, with some maps. My scanner is not working properly unfortunately. I will get it fixed when I return, after August 12th. In the mean time you may want to try the following specialist search engine. If there is a second hand book out there and it is for sale, you will find it here. You can search by title, author etc. http://www.sonic.net/~bstone/booksearch.html ------------------ Fabs

You can also try the series of books called "Maple Leaf Route". There's several slim volumes concerned with Canadian Army actions in various Euro theatres; it's been a while since I've looked thru them, but I recall that either a single volume or at least a portion of one volume is devoted to the Scheldt estuary action. Thes books are particularly good for maps and descriptions of relatively small unit (platoon/company level) actions; the maps often have relative dispositions of both Canuck and enemy units (individual MG's, in some cases, to indicate the level of detail), along with relevant topo features, etc. They're worth a look! They can be found in larger public libraries or available thru interlibrary loan. Good luck! Are you putting together a scenario?

I'm hoping too timski. First real attempt at it and I have no idea how long it will take. Thanks for the info.
