I have about £2500 ($4,362.91 ) at current rates to spend on a new toy.

So shall I buy a new computer or spend it on booze and wild dangerous girls?

You wise advice is needed.

If a computer which.
If booze and wild dangerous girls..any suggestions?

Hmmm...

1. Spend about $2,200 building a top of the line gaming computer.

2. Spend the rest on buying the entire Matrix and HPS lines.

3. Why would you want to waste anything on booze and girls anyway?

Ya gotta get your priorities straight dear!

#3 Is that a waste? Why did no one tell me that 20 years back? Now I know why I look like I do!!

Invest it until direct x 10 comes out and all the hardware changes once again ... hopefully you'll have saved enough to be able to buy the *right* toys when it happens.

Is direct X 10 going to be a long, long time away though? As my current set up is falling to bits (motherboard failing etc)

If you have 4k to put into a comp invest it into liquid cooling. Case with no fans. The computer is totally silent. Allthough if you have a wife the background noise coming from PC might actually be preferrable to the "other noise".

Get 64-bit hardware and OS. Much faster than the current 32 bit, access RAM quicker and all your current games will work fine
