Norfolk Island is overated at (0), there still isnt a port and the slightest seas makes portage awkward.
The airfield was made by cutting the top off a hill and demolishing some beautiful trees.
A lovely place to visit.

Re: Me 410B-2/U4 vs Me 410B-2/U2

Possibly lugging around a 500kg weapon pack plus ammo wasnt good for performance, anyway it was to attack bombers outside fighter cover (which grew less and less as the weeks went by) The low ratings might also reflect the low ammo load, 21 rounds isnt going to last long (This is a Gary Grigsby comm...

Re: Burma/India : No Ric please

Put a substantial force in Port Blair to protect your LOC.

I'd give it a bash, but using those forces results in them not being in the SWPA.

Re: Baltimore V - utterly ridiculous

Commonwealth pilots used the Baltimore and its predecessor Martin Maryland aggressively against the lower powered Italian aircraft, with a top speed over 300 mph it was useful and if a pilot though a head on attack was the way to go they could find up to 8 x .303 or 4 .303 and 2 x 50cal shooting back.

Re: Baltimore V - utterly ridiculous

I use the Baltimore heavily in 1943 & early 44 and have never seen them do anything like you describe. How about some numbers or screen shots. It is faster than B25 & B26, slower than A20, less maneuverable than all but good durability. Far from having only 2 x 50 cal it had either 2 x 50cal...

Re: As the Germans, do you use the Me410 and similar?

As an Allied player I love coming against the Me410. Easy targets for all Allied fighters, no way I am sending bombers outside the escort range.
Plus it chews up 2 engines and I dont know if it draws extra resources due to its size.

Seems like the Luftwaffe players enjoy playing the Allied AI.

Re: Expansion Ideas?

How would a true 2 sided game go with both sides able to plan raids and conduct interceptions.

My thought for a topic is NW Europe 1941-42, the base for it is already there.

A first time for everything.

I dont know how many games or how many thousands of turns I have played and I got surprised by the AI. In July 1942 I was woken from my mindless trawl through the slow years for the Allies by a combat message, the Japanese had landed at Carnarvon, Western Australia !!!!!!! (This is Scen 1) One of my...

Trawl through this website

Lots of useful stuff but the Brits were less statistic driven than the Yanks.

You could also look at Amazon for works by Christopher Shores, Norman Franks, Martin Middlebrook and others.

Some interesting info, but I fear you are simplifying some of the ad-hoc arrangements in place at the time. eg: Sparrow Force was made up of 2/40 Bn, 2/1 Hvy Battery, 2/1 Fortress Signals, 2/1 Fort Coy, 75 Light Aid Detachment, AASC Sparrow det, Det 2/12 Field Ambulance, B Troop 18 AT Battery, Sec 2...

In Vietnam the USAAF used Jet Fighters for ground support, is that relevant to a WW2 environment????

Re: Occupation of Portland

If you are talking Dec 41 its gamey, if its mid42 it is because of a lazy Allied player. It Isnt hard to place an Infantry Division to defend one of your key shipbuilding bases, plus have it at 3-4 fort level.

Re: Bomber Command missing cities ...

Hi, I have noticed that with this build that bomber command regularly misses or completely misses entire cities. The latest was a raid on Nuremburg with 428 bombers across 20 + sqns and not one bomber hit the city. Stream led by an experienced pathfinder Lancaster Gp, only 16% overcast, minimal nig...

Re: Suggestions for future patches

I'm only talking about the bombing of french cities, not military targets such as Operation Crossbow which targeted V1 and V2 sites. For information, during the operation Charnwood, the city of Caen saw 68% of its buildings destroyed I know the history of this region well, as several members of my ...

Re: Suggestions for future patches

This is an easy fix. I need 2 other btr fans to chime in and I'll make it so. :geek: So how about the need for some night bomb raids on French targets for RAF? So that they can not only bomb targets in Germany during the period? There were no night raids on France during the war, as Sir W.Churchill...

Re: How to win in 1944 campaign ?

I assume you mean the 1943 campaign, the 1944 campaign has just started in May 44. My game has just reached May44 and while I don't think I've done brilliantly I think I have enough points to survive 2-3 months of Overlord requirements. I use BC to hit cities and Terror is at 14, 205 Group with Libe...

Some general answers, How I can find the max altitude at which brits fighters are less (or more) efficient? All 3 major fighters have roughly the same max height, I believe they all share similar performance at heights, with the Hurricane a bit behind. Look to history, the game replicates real life ...

Winning a PBEM as Japan?

Holding Burma, DEI, China, New Guinea, Solomons, Gilbert Is, Wake, Dutch Harbour line of defense.

The question is winning, not avoiding defeat.
