RE: Decisive Campaigns: Ardennes Offensive - New Patch v1.01.00

<t> “The thing is you'll very very often will not want to move all your units.”<br/> <br/> Of course! But you can make it plain which ones those are. Program a hot key to cycle thru all units with X* or more APs. Doing this once prior to hitting the End Turn button would be all a player would need, ...

RE: Decisive Campaigns: Ardennes Offensive - New Patch v1.01.00

<t> Excellent game, Vic, and thanks for the patch(es). However, unless I missed it in your extensive list of changes, there is still no "unmoved units" utility!<br/> <br/> I trudged 6 turns into Wacht am Rein as the Allies, having to repeatedly survey the entire map before ending each turn to be sur...

Replacements

<t> In the Unit tab I think I see values for existing elements, replacements for those elements requested, and something called "In". In my beginning Arracourt scenario, I use cards to request additional replacements, apparently going to major HQs. But even when I put individual units on "priority" ...

RE: Can somebody explain the supply system.....

<t> Great coverage of a complicated topic, thank you. <br/> <br/> Related question: I'm trying to add a forward supply base/depot in the simple Arracourt scenario, but keep getting refused. I have enough PPs, and am trying to put it on roads, even crossroads, the ownership of which is not in doubt. ...

action points' effect on permission to attack

<t> I'm new...running into problems not knowing how far I can travel in Move mode, yet still have sufficient Action Points to wage a ground attack. This uncertainty often leaves me to sidle up next to an enemy, fully expecting to attack him with several units, only to go to the battle scene and have...

new player help

<t> Just got the game, read the manual...most intimidating even for a long-time wargamer like me (though I hasten to thank the devs for MAKING one, which is too often deferred to Youtube).<br/> Is there anywhere a "guide" for new players? A summary of tips, best initial approaches, etc., to ease one...

RE: Where do I start?

<t> Thanks to all. I'm struggling with the invasion routines, trying to play the Guadalcanal scenario. I have the 4 marine regiments, embarked and escorted by DDs, at the start of the game. I've tried myriad ways of moving them to the Canal and disembarking, but I CAN"T for some reason: I can get th...

Where do I start?

I'm an experienced computer wargamer, but WP Pacific is virtually impenetrable. I've read the manual, and spent hours going thru the first several youtube tutorials. Any suggestions for climbing this impossible learning curve?

AI for carrier battles?

<t> It appears from the scenario list for WWII Asia that most aircraft carrier scenarios have no programmed AI opponent (Midway and Pearl are exceptions), while scenarios involving surface fleets do. Are there technical reasons for this, and is it likely a PO will eventually be added? Such naval act...

TOAW 4 scenarios

<t> 1. Is there a comprehensive list of scenarios which play on TOAW 4? (Sorry, as I suspect this question has been asked & answered.)<br/> 2. Since our great friends who design scenarios will probably update them as needed for this version, will #1 be updated periodically to include these versi...

RE: "Defending terrain check"

<t> 1. Saw it as one of the many options for display on the unit counters.<br/> 2. Bob: Your answer certainly makes sense: that it would be a statement of defensive value of the terrain. I assume also that "DF modified by terrain" refers to a single-unit value, rather than that of the whole stack.</t>

"Defending terrain check"

I THINK I'd like to include this as an option to be displayed on the unit counters, but I can't find this term "Defending terrain check" in the manual anywhere. What does this value tell me?

RE: Unload

<t> So how to take Malta?<br/> <br/> I bombard from ships and planes, then approach with a Corps unit on amphibious transport. I can left-click on Malta and sometimes hear/see an explosion. But in no case is the "unload" choice not grayed out and unavailable.<br/> <br/> What's the process for attack...

<t> Glad to see someone else playing on Windows 7! RE: War in the West - Ask us Anything

<t> Just getting into the game...love it. Learning curve is intimidating, but leaves a sense of satisfaction with each level of understanding; and each level brings forth the thought of "Wow...can't believe they incorporated that into the design."<br/> Two probably simple questions: 1. The mouseover...

RE: Command ASW Gameplay Tips

<t> Thanks Scott!<br/> <br/> Of COURSE (palm slaps forehead)...I've read elsewhere that a towed array picks up a contact at reciprocal bearings. That explains much of the "jumping" effect.<br/> As to employment of Orions: Have done it 2 ways: --make a "new mission", drawing an AOI around the sub's a...

RE: Command ASW Gameplay Tips

<t> This newcomer (played Harpoon...this is way better) appreciates the lesson. Having a LOT of trouble prosecuting subs. Will distill my issues to two:<br/> 1. Sub contacts "jump" all over the place. I understand that the sonar operator will hear a sub vaguely, such that it appears one place one ti...
