Control

I am playing the base game before purchasing a DLC. The DLC that interests me is Allies Victorious as it appears that the included scenarios can be played multiplayer. I have attached a screenshot and if you look at the 3 coastal hexes north of Bayeux they still appear to Axis controlled even though...

Wondering How Long It Takes To Play

I'm wondering how long it takes on average to play the campaign game (1941-45) by PBEM?

I've played the 1939 Small Fleet scenario of War Plan War in Europe to August 1945 PBEM and it took us 10 months. I assume that War in the East 2 would take even longer.

Re: stjeand (Allied) vs MagicMissle (Axis) NO MM for now

Wondering if you guys are still playing this one as there hasn't been an update for 5 days. My friend and I completed three games and all of them were won by the Axis.
Although the accelerated activation of armies is a start I think there has to be some fundamental changes to the eastern front.

Thinking of Buying This

I'm an old boardgamer dating back to the days of Avalon HIll and the Decisive Campaign games look interesting. I always only play single player to learn the game after which I play multiplayer. I assume the PBEM works the same as for War Plan in that it is through the Matrix server. Any comments abo...

Difference Between This and Bulge

Since Decisive Campaigns Battle of the Bulge came out after Barbarossa so does it have some additional or improvements and or additions to the game system? The graphics certainly look better. I am more interested in Barbarossa given that it covers the entire eastern front from 1941-42 as opposed to ...

Which DLCs Have Multiplayer

The description for DLC's are not consistent so it is difficult to be certain that the DLC can be played multiplayer which is what my friend and I are interested in. The only one that indicates more than 1 player is U.S. Marines which says 1-4 players. Others like Allies Victorious don't indicate an...

Re: Russia...some issues to address

I agree that there should be FOW for land units "behind lines" although what constitutes that would have to be defined. However I don't want what they have in Strategic Command where if you bump in to a hidden unit the moving unit gets hit hard. Rather the moving unit incurs just the ZOC c...

Re: Russia...some issues to address

ncc, those are very interesting changes you proposed for the Russians and am wondering if they can be implemented in a mod? I have had my butt kicked as the Russians even when the Germans invaded in May 1942.

Re: U-Boats Over Rated

My mistake, the Allies actually lost a BB and CA with no hits on the u-boats. I have attached screenshots. I got mixed up as there was a fleet retreat and it showed the losses again. I was swapping the naval units that were shore bombarding so that their effectiveness levels were not low. However I ...

U-Boats Over Rated

In our PBEM game 5 u-boats attacked Allied surface ships providing shore bombardment and sank 2 BB's and 2 Ca's and there wasn't even a hit registered on a u-boat. In one of the attacks the u-boats "ambushed" the surface ships but in the manual it indicates that the superior fleet is more ...

Shock Table on Page 63

Reading the manual. It looks to me like the table on for Shock on page 63 is wrong. Shouldn't lines 2 and 3 be swapped?

Re: Russia...some issues to address

In addition to not getting the "no zoc cost" when the defender is attacked across a river hexside I think it should also be negated when the defender was in a city hex or terrain such as forest, marsh and mountains. The winterization specialization should be revised. The Siberian units tha...

Re: Russia...some issues to address

My friend and I played Dark Sands which came out after Dark Valley and covers the campaign in North Africa from 1940-42. Not sure I am that keen on the chit system. Stejand, do you know about Vassal which has cyber modules of pretty well every boardgame ever released? It allows you to play those gam...

Re: stjeand (Allied) vs MagicMissle (Axis) NO MM for now

I'll be following your game closely and find your strategy, especially the builds quite interesting. I am amazed at how quickly your game is progressing and am wondering how many turns you are getting on average per day. I am still of the opinion that the 1939 Small Fleet Historical Weather campaign...

Re: How Long?

In our current PBEM game the Germans did not invade until spring of 42 which means there was no harsh winter for them because as I understand it, it only applies to the winter of 41. I am also not sure any of the factories transferred to the Urals since the fixed dates came and went before Barbaross...

Re: How Long?

I have suggested a number of times that there should be the option of "traditional pbem". My definition of this is players being able to save game files on their pc and not use the Matrix server. This would allow testing "what ifs" and alternate strategies without using something...

How Long?

I am wondering how long in real time is it taking players to complete a multiplayer 1939 campaign game that goes to the end, i.e. September 1945. We started a 1939 small fleet campaign game at the beginning of May 2023 and currently in June of 1944. I have mentioned this before but it would be nice ...

Re: Strategic Bombing and railroads.

In our current game, the Axis have 6AA in every oil centre so add this to fighters protecting them, it gets very expensive in bomber losses.
I too would like to see some sort of strategic air interdiction of the rail network and suggested this in a post a few days ago.

A Couple of Comments

I'm wondering why Canadian paratroopers can't use UK air transport to drop? They use UK transports to move by sea and pretty sure they didn't have their own transport aircraft for D-Day. On another subject I think a significant historical option is missing from the game. For months ahead of D-Day th...

Re: Control of production centre

Sorry, I was not clear enough in my question. Once a production centre is captured the amount of the production centre has impact on whether a country surrenders. Using Italy as an example, if the Allied capture a production centre worth 5 the number required for it to negotiate a surrender is reduc...
