Re: The best compromise for AI turn speed

You can set message detail to 0 and fly through it at the speed of your CPU. Then, simply use the combat display, and click on the ones of interest. Remember, the detail level can be changed from the keyboard by typing a number. So, you can have it on when deciding your own attacks, but flip it off ...

@Joel: Time for another scenario pack?

Joel, It seems you must have got the game nailed down pretty good as you did not immediately roll into another open beta. Is it time for another scenario pack? I will admit I have not played WITW/WITE2 much for the last year. About year ago I built a new PC (13900KS/4090). So, I went on a CPU/GPU bi...

Re: DXWnd made easy

Hi AKL, Unfortunately that is as good as it gets unless you want to "stretch" the graphic aspect ratio to fill the black borders which just looks funky IMO. It would take someone with much more programming skill than myself to get this game to fit modern monitors in true full screen mode....

Any one try NVidia RTX AI yet?

I have it downloaded, but haven't installed yet. This is an AI tool for 30 & 40 series cards that does RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation). In RAG, documents such as PDF file are chunked into semantic embeddings via LangChain and a VectorDB. This technology was pre-NLP/LLMs, but, of course, LLM...

Morale general or faction is cumulative or does one supersede the other?

Thanks.

Re: New v1.03.07 Public Beta Now Available!

Are there any particular operations that you'd like to see covered in additional scenarios? One of the issues is that it's hard to make changes to the AI at this point (without breaking it), so any additional scenarios would need to be able to get by using the generic AI. That, and the fact that Tr...

Re: New v1.03.07 Public Beta Now Available!

Joel, I was sorry to hear that you would not be announcing another scenario pack. Especially, a pack with shorter scenarios sounded interesting. I have to admit that despite that I am not part of the GENZ TIK-TOK demographic (more like B/W CRT TV demographic) perhaps an attention span for a full 4 y...

Re: Strategic Command: World War I - Empires in Turmoil is out now

I would guess not as there is 60% Steam Publisher Sale on the base now, but nothing on this DLC. So, no point waiting for a Maxtrix Winter sale.

Re: Strategic Command: World War I - Empires in Turmoil is out now

Is this to be covered under Matrix's next Winter/Holiday sale?

Does anyone know if and when that sale commences?

Thanks.

Re: Alekmalek quit WITE2 because of WW1 grinding

Reading this thread ... I perhaps have a very different take on it than posters. Why? Because before PC wargaming even existed, I was software engineer. There are two main approaches to design: Top Down = We take the results we want and we design code that will generate said results. Bottom Up = We ...

Re: DXWnd made easy

I was doing that, but you need to still start DXWND first. So, DXWND monitors and senses the launch of a target compared to something RESHADE which I think does alter the EXE to contain some form of bootstrap. Good to see you are still working on it. Richard since we last spoke, I built my first PC....

Joel Billings wrote: Mon Nov 06, 2023 7:58 pm What you show as 123 is actually 122, because the first item in that row is 100, not 101. Programmers count from 0. :D So 123 in game is a blank spot.
Okay, Joel, go for it, and explain twos complement binary!

Re: New v1.03.05 Public Beta Now Available!

Joel, As this is a niche game and MP players are often friends, you need to allow them to handicap as well. Like we will play chess, but I will spot you a bishop since I have a +300 ELO rating. Although I don't MP. Thanks for your support. As you know there has been much news in the press recently a...

Re: New v1.03.05 Public Beta Now Available!

This raises an interesting point in general. SP and MP balance are not the same. I would argue that it is possible that MP balance needs its own more sophisticated form of handicapping. At least for WITE-2, it is generally friends playing due to the large time commitment ... I think negotiating a ha...

Re: After 120 turns I have realizes I picked wrong scenario!:)

Well here is how I would do it. Some degree of scenario scripts must be instantiated when a game is created and recorded in the save. I would use a HEX editor to find the Sudden Death predicate. How? Not totally sure, but: * Start by comparing an initial save for each scenario type. * Scripted varia...

Re: War in Europe! It would sell

The only thing sadder than senior PC wargames grogs is PC senior software engineers. I am retired (software engineer) and this is one of my favorite hobbies despite no longer learning as fast or retaining as well. (I still code from time to time.) The culture of software engineering design/coding/de...
