RE: Stay or evacuate?

In my opinion, if you are playing vs AI, you are not really playing the game. In my last WITP campaign vs AI, stopped playing at USN in Feb 1942 as I had sunk/crippled half of the IJN CV fleet using Dutch and Australians around Java. Vs Humans, I struggle to stay in the game.

RE: Countering 31K Zero Sweeps

thanks for the insight. Scenario is Aug 42 to Apr 43. In Oct 42, IJN has many advantages just as in history. It is just a game. But it is how I spend my idle time, but only play against human opposition.

RE: Countering 31K Zero Sweeps

<t> My planes are CAP at typically 15K or 20K depending on type depending on Manueverabilty drop-off). They climb up automatically to engage sweeps. or are just bounced at CAP mission altitude. IJN opponent wisely plans bombing raids after several sweeps. Some day I will have P38Gs but not this mont...

Countering 31K Zero Sweeps

<t> My IJN Guadalcanal scenario has an annoying habit of conducting 20+ plane Zero sweeps of my forward bases (PM, Lunga). My P40/KH1, P39s, F4Fs cannot fly that high, arrive at their max altitude in small numbers with minimal maneuverability & are bounced. My side loses at a 10:1 ratio, and mor...

RE: Running the game with DOSBox Staging

<t> I maintain a running WindowXP as it can run DOS programs natively. I always have a game of pbem Pacific War going. <br/> <br/> Not to mention is also stuffed with and runs every program known in the 2000s era. My Windows7 is used for Matrix games [some run on WinXP but not Win10; some run on Win...

There are people who play the game (simulate history) and those who seek to defeat the game application software.

RE: Unloading supply

<t> Someone taught me in the past that TFs unloading at small ports should be in a Amphibioius mission not a Transport mission. Rate fo debarking will be very slow rate due to lack of lighters, cranes, etc. Will be much faster/more efficient in an Amphib mission. Previous response notes the the rate...

<t> I have run 30 day trials in the Guadalcanal scenario, playing both sides, with all ships on both sides remaining in port [testing supply reduction and consumption by air bombardment]. With no ships at sea, there were frequent Coastwatcher reports daily. <br/> --<br/> Finished a Guadalcanal pbem ...

RE: Never Ending Scenario

<t> Thanks. This was missed by both players. <br/> <br/> So the Dababes version only has a bigger map (2.5x more hexes), two additional small Allied shipyard (Auckland, Melbourne), same forces but about 60% the number of IJN SS, same different plane groups (P38Ds at start), incoming supply/fuel volu...

Never Ending Scenario

<t> My honorable IJN opponent defeated my USN forces in the Guadalcanal scenario. Scenario description states the last turn would be 7-Feb-1943. We were waiting how the program provides end of scenario information. We were not sure if game actually ended on 7-Feb or on 8-Feb. But after both players ...

More Ammo for SC with Mousetrap Mk 20

<r> Am about 75% the way through a pbem Guadalcanal campaign. As USN I have several sub chasers (SC-###) out of ammo for their Mousetrap Mk 20 launchers. Parking & resupply at the major bases of Sydney and/or Noumea do not resupply these weapons. Such SC are still useful for ASW using their DC r...

<r> Game came out in 2009, prior to Win10. Same for WITP (2004?) I have about 8 Matrix Games. Confirmed by Tech Support, some work on WinXP but not Win10; some work on Win10 (WITE) but not WinXP, all should work on Win7. I plan to convert a spare machine to Win7 so all my pbem Matrix games will work...

RE: correct training mission for air skill?

<t> Answering Alfred 9/28/20<br/> -In WITP, the only training mission is training. There is only one pilot experience, AE introduced subset skills. In WITP you can put a a P36 air group on the west coast on training for a year, 360 turns, and experience will only increase 0, 1 or 2 points from its i...

<t> Maybe there is a thread somewhere, lots of focus on TrainCom.<br/> ---<br/> Pilot training; picking the right mission for skills training. <br/> I am not clear on what should be done. RE: fate of pilots of disbanded air group?

<t> Once they were all in grey, I could then send them to reserve and they disappear from the roster. That solved the issue. I did not realize this was a two step process. 1) release the pilots to put name in gray; 2) then clidk on them again to sent to reserve and name disappears. No turn delay is ...

RE: fate of pilots of disbanded air group?

<t> In the following day, the Ready pilots is listed as 0(5). The pilot list list the five names in gray. I do not know if I can yet disband the sub-air group and keep the pilots in pool. The parent group can be upgraded but the 5 pilots are some of my best. As the USN players, high quality tables a...

<t> As I released the pilots I was able to choose to send to the reserve. So I released the pilots to group reserve not, and will disband the group once the pilots ...

fate of pilots of disbanded air group?

<t> In the case of pilots of a sub-air group which is disbanded in a isolated base with no like aircraft, the planes are destroyed. What happens to the pilots? The manual does not say. Are the pilots lost, make their way to the group reserve, now or later? As was not sure, I released all the pilots ...
