Re: Replenishment TF woes

There is another way - set the TF to Surface Combat until it arrives at the scene of the invasion, then change it to Bombardment and send it in. If I have enough air cover, I set the bombarding ships to "Remain on Station" because often one or more of the big ships will not have used all* ...

Re: Replenishment TF woes

If there were no messages about slowing to allow the AO to catch up, that wasn't the problem. Are you aware there is a built-in profile for a Naval Bombardment mission? The TF will stage to a point close enough to the target that it can dash in at the start of the turn, bombard and retire at full sp...

Re: The Power of Inexperience / GreyJoy(A)-Rader(J)

dpt182 , you have resurrected a long dead thread - the original posters are not likely to notice your post. Normal course of action for forum posts is to create a new thread if the old one is more than 6 months without a post - it's a necro-thread. That keeps newer material on the front page of the...

Re: Tender ships

Exception of an AR or ARD - they have no supplies but must themselves be pristine before they can work on a damaged ship.

OK - I misunderstood which base you were referring to - I thought Meekathera was the one connected with only Port Hedland but I guess it is the one with the big arrow pointing to it on your map. My goof!

Re: Dutch AVP Arend: Scenario 1 Exploits

The challenge at Meekathera is to keep it supplied. You can only do that by sea. That means control of air and sea at Port Hedland.

Re: Does anyone know who these guys are?

Front pages around the Cuban Missile Crisis would be cool. Did the public get news of the Russian SS that turned back rather than fire their nuke torps? Did the public know anything about the deal to remove US missiles from Turkey?

Nice clean up on Aisles 5 and 10! :D
You got a -supply in the last two attacks at Nanking. Can you afford a pause to let supply reach the hex?

Re: Repair Question

Since the aircraft cannot be operated from a heavily damaged ship, they should be landed on one of the bases and flown from there to a useful place. Heck, the fighters could even follow the ship around and LRCAP it where possible. Devastators could do ASW along the route and some Naval Search as well.

Re: Fortifications

Years of experience with bombardments confirms that forts do reduce the losses. It's still a die roll thing so there will be times when the losses are higher than expected but on average they are lower with higher forts.

Re: Training during transport?

Maybe the difference is that Kull's squadron was left in training mode when it loaded aboard the transport while Sardaukar's unit was stood down before it loaded?

Re: Dutch AVP Arend: Scenario 1 Exploits

I never look at those pools but Patrol seems to be the right category. The point is, when you ask for a veteran to fill a FP or Patrol Plane slot or let the AI transfer in pilots when others leave the FP squadron, it is going to draw from that Patrol pool.

Re: Dutch AVP Arend: Scenario 1 Exploits

Recon is also a useful skill for FP pilots, since they could be sent to a cruiser or battleship in future. Bombardment results are affected by the Recon skill of the spotting pilot.

Wait a minute - Lt. Shirane is claiming 14 aircraft shot down in one attack? And his superiors believed him? No wonder the Japanese were infected with "Victory Disease"!

Sorry to hear your grim news Sardaukar. The 5-year max prognosis is really jarring - I had hopes that your treatments would end up in clearing your current cancer. Glad to see you are still fighting and taking things in stride though - a strong spirit always shines through! Best wishes for the curre...
