Re: Command: Modern Operations - Map Layer News Update

The map layers look good on 1328.12 - but Norfolk Island (in the Coral Sea), although now in its correct position along with Lord Howe Island, is incorrectly named "Burnt Pine", and shows no detail - no topography, no overlay, nothing. It is a populated island and a tourist destination, an...

Interesting response from Dimitris. Looking forward to what comes out of this discussion - could be most interesting.

Geography

I had an idea to try a sneaky ambush of ships leaving Sydney, bound for somewhere else. My first idea was to head a relief convoy to Norfolk Island in the South Pacific/East Coral Sea. Problem #1 - one of my destroyers ran aground in the "shipping channel" in Sydney Harbour, near Bradley's...

Re: Modern Naval Warfare - Navy Log Book #2

After reading that log I can't wait for the sim to appear later this year! I spent several years conducting tours of an old Oberon class submarine at a maritime museum. The massive difference in technology is astounding - and makes me feel more comfortable with what I was telling the visitors to the...

Re: Command: Modern Operations - War Planner is available now

Downloaded (both parts) again - much more easily than yesterday. Ran again and installed OK - except for Chains of War and Northern Inferno. Not too fussed about those any more, so will continue with current situation and get my serial no's. accepted later. I'm not sure what/where the original probl...

Re: Command: Modern Operations - War Planner is available now

Have just run the downloaded uninstall/install compressed exe file. Uninstall seems to have gone fine, the application no longer exists on my computer. And this seems to be the problem because during the installation the routine reported an unknown decompression error on a file in "...\cache\WW...

Re: Command: Modern Operations - War Planner is available now

Re-ran the download, this time from the North American server. Ran smoothly and done within about an hour.

Backing up my current installation in prep'n for the installation.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product!!

Re: Command: Modern Operations - War Planner is available now

Used the Europe link as above.

Best speed I got was about 380KB/s, slowest was about 175 KB/s. That's why I don't normally use the European site links for product downloads.
Anyhow, after about 4+ hours, and not much past halfway, it died.

Giving up for now - other things to do.

Re: Command: Modern Operations - War Planner is available now

Downloaded Part 1 from the "North America" site. Took about an hour at speeds ranging up to 3.x MB/s. Tried to get Part 2 from the same site. Response - "download not available". Went to the Europe site. Download is running now - about 1.5 hours after I started it - at speeds ran...

Re: Modern Naval Warfare Coming Soon

End of 2023 now. That date has blown out by a full year in the last few months. Is there a problem? Or is there a shortage of developers or development time? Its understandable that sim development is a bit "foggy" at times, but I'm really looking forward to this sim - just don't want to d...

Re: RE: Modern Naval Warfare Coming Soon

This looks good of course. BUT I thought it was going to be an overall naval simulation game. Not sub command. I am a tincan sailer, i.e. modern DDG's. No one has yet to do a real, good naval simulation yet for those like me. Running a battle fleet, SAGS, handling Aegis, Carrier ops and more, is th...

RE: Has the sound design been improved in CMO?

<t> Not a bad idea for a game. But CMANO currently has the option of being played as either a game or with the appearance of a simulation - it certainly has the realism built in.<br/> If you're conducting the battle sitting in CIC or in a command centre ashore you won't hear much - if anything at al...
