How to best deal with Oranienburg?

A question for the veterans around here; how do you usually deal with the Oranienburg city fortress to make the assault on Leningrad easier? Do you bypass it (do units in it ever break out into your rear areas? or attack out from it?), isolate it completely (risk of losing a lot of planes near Lenin...

Re: Automatic repair assignment

The rail construction units can only operate within the command radius of the HQ they are attached to. However, I often find that the priorities of said HQ are often weird and it sends the construction unit to a rail hex that I never would if I had had the choice/control over it. Like away from the ...

Does the captured port need to be at 100% before you can repair rail from it? Couldn't find info in Living Manual about it.

Re: Units set to zero max TOE

I really should use the CR more...
I still wonder why, despite having some 350.000 men in pool and still there is a limit to TOE.
Also, how come some units can have a TOE that is above their MAX?

Re: Units set to zero max TOE

Does that apply to equipment as well? I noticed it first with Stug support units in the reserves that never got any vehicles despite a lot of them in the pool. Seems tedious to have to check every unit for their max TOE to make sure.

Units set to zero max TOE

I have had a few situations where units in reserve has had their max TOE set to zero. I started wondering why they didn't get equipment despite there being plenty in pool. Reasons for this happening? Bug?
Have also seen unit on map having its max TOE lowered despite me not (knowingly) changing it.

Re: Anniversary Coupons

I received my anniversary coupon a few weeks ago, for a 25% discount, and was about to make a purchase today. The discout is set at 21% which was last year's coupon. IIRC I used that already but might be wrong. It isn't a huge discrepancy but want to buy the new Flashpoint Campaign game and every pe...

What happens if your oppo don't turn up or doesn't keep up with turn tempo and the scenario isn't finished in time?

Re: Playing the AI

If your playing the Soviet AI you need to put the setting on Challenging in 1941 and the change it to Hard in 1943 to have any sort of a fair game against the AI. Also if you only play against the AI you will learn a bunch of bad habits that a P vs P match will punish you in. Only played vs AI so f...

Re: Soviet AI behaviour: a couple of observations

The Soviets did launch bombing runs into the German rear, and they paid for it. It's historical behavior, but probably not worth the cost. As for the AI, you really need to give the AI at least morale help 110, if not full Challenging level once you understand the game mechanics. We've gone back an...

Soviet AI behaviour: a couple of observations

I'm on turn 60 of my current campaign as Axis and a couple of things I've noticed several times bug me a bit. When I encircle Soviet units (even strong corp units) they never try to break out even if one unit needed to be pushed back is a weak cavalry unit. They just sit there waiting to be chopped ...

I agree, but also feel that it is more important to underestimate than overestimate CV (almost always check odds though). Perhaps evereything above, let's say, x.75 will round up and below down?

Re: How do you play?

I only play vs AI. So far, I should say. I want to know all the ins and outs of the game before taking on a human oppo. In part out of respect for the other player. If you invest the time in a game like this I feel I owe my oppo a good fight. But what I'm most hoping for is what was hinted at when ...

Re: Staging bases

I send my fighters to bases near the front while keeping bombers further to the rear. I then set the staging base to the fighter base which then escorts the bombers. I usually have fighters near the front, but more because of range issues. What is the benefit of it from your suggestion - save fuel?

Re: Problem with Naval Patrol

Here are some screenshots from an earlier turn. This shows the directive setup. Maybe it should have been one hex west as suggested above. The supply situation is bad at the staging base. However, when I try to change staging base it always reverts back to Burgas when the directive is carried out. S...
