Re: Unit Purchase

One small thing, I would like a way to purchase units fully upgraded (to whatever tek I have) with a single click rather than having to flick around the little rockers for each unit for each tek and level. Just another button that you click to get a “maxed out” unit. The issue with that is that a f...

Re: Weak Forts in Key Southern Cities

The warps take the same amount time, no? These should remain. Like many irregular units: Marines Rangers Indians All of them should be closer to regiment sized 5 strength units to reflect what they were. The US Marines in the ACW were IIRC < 5000 total men. Agree regarding the size of Marines, Rang...

Re: A thank you to the Devs!

Hey! I wasn't sure where to write this, but I just want to say thank you for creating accessible wargames, specifically the Strategic Command games. I'm only 26, (I jokingly refer to these games as the older gentleman games) but I have a passion for history/military history. I've been bonding with ...

You are quite right of course... I meant Jackson.

Re: General Tech

The Confederate Generals are much better than their Union opposite numbers and by a big amount early on. Heck, as the Rebs it makes sense to sack/ replace Polk (4 ) when he arrives by event with Lee (8) if you havent done it earlier. The Union simply don't have that option earlier in the war. The bi...

Re: SC - ACW now on Steam - Reviews Please Read

It is also a good idea to use the Steam key provided by Matrix to activate the game from Steam from now on rather than using the Matrix shortcut. There are two advantages to this. Firstly patches are automatically applied avoiding the sometimes glitchy Matrix update process and secondly your hours i...

They also get the fortified hexes around New Orleans and Mobile

Re: anemic "defenses" seem almost worthless for cost of 200

I am a little confused by your phrase " defence units". Do you mean the forts ? If so forts tech 1 and 2 do indeed improve their survivability and their damage oitput.

If you mean the Brigade strength units you get for free in Texas these can be moved if desired.

Re: Jacksonville Rail Line

Fair point but that was a diplomatic possibility.

There was no possibility of the South being able to construct such a rail line once at war.

Thats because there wasn't one built in 1861 connecting Jacksonville to Richmond.

Rail in the south was very undeveloped generally.

Re: Sterling Price

I always take Price. Keeps the Union somewhat honest in southern Missouri and stops them shooting straight into Arkansas. Price can get back to his force but it is another example in my view, like the placement of the intitial Rebel gunboats where a more random arrival point would stop the Union pla...

Re: Naval Placement for the South

Arriving in random ports would be best.

Anything that stops a cookie cutter Union response every game is good. I would actually go further and have an option for more random deplyments of leaders and initial forces (within logical limits) to add a bit less certainty early on.

Re: Fighting Spirit Cities

What would slow the Union, don't allow them to reinforce in enemy territory unless unit is on a rail which traces to the North. Given the scarcity of rail lines in the south that would effectively stop the North mounting any sort of general invasion of the South but presumably still allow the South...
