JJeffreyDonahue -> CP not being counted correctly on global map (6/13/2020 1:15:52 AM)

Open the Commonwealth production planning screen, select the global map and count the convoy points in the North Atlantic and Bay of Biscay. You will see that the convoy points reported do not agree with what is on the map. I think in the Bay of Biscay the convoy point that is not being reported is the ex-Dansh convoy point. In the North Atlantic I am not sure what the problem is; possibly the Belgian convoy points are not being counted.

I loaded your saved game and there were zero units in the Bay of Biscay. The Production Planning form, the Global Map, and the Detailed Map all agreed.

The same is true for the North Atlantic. All 3 forms show 15 Allied convoys in the sea area.

Please be more careful when reporting 'bugs'.

Did I say Bay of Biscay? My bad. I meant Cape St. Vincent. When I last looked at the file it showed 13 CP in the North Atlantic but there were 15. Possibly closing the game and reopening the file corrected the error. At any rate, the global map screen in the production planning dialog box was showing 13 CP in North Atlantic when there were 15 and 4 CP in Cape St. Vincent when there were 5. (4 French, 1 former Danish (now Commonwealth)). If one has to save the game and reopen the file to get a correct count then there is still a bug someplace - the global map screen is not updating as the information on the detail map changes. Sorry you can't recreate this but I know what I saw.

I think you are misunderstanding the way the Global Map is presenting the information to you. Have a read players manual vol 1. p182-183 - Section titled 8.5.5 Convoy View.

quote:

Here there are mostly convoys present, with Figure 8.5.3 the number of convoys indicated by the number in each sea area. If surface ship escorts were also present, a second number would appear, (e.g., 3/1 indicates 3 convoys and 1 escorting unit). Submarines are the third number and air units are the fourth. In the Marshalls, the Japanese have a single submarine present: -/-/1.

So the first number is the number of Convoys present in the sea area. The second number (if present) is the number of ship escorts in the sea area, the third number (if present) is the number of Submarines, and the forth (if present) is the number of air units.

Also, in the Global Map, if you choose to view Commonwealth Convoys, then all it counts is Commonwealth controlled convoys, and will excluded any French Convoys with this choice. To see the total number of active allied convoys in a sea area you have to choose that (Active Allied) convoy view.

So from your save, everything appears to be displaying correctly.

Thanks. I already knew what the various numbers in the global map sea are boxes mean. When I saved the game, the CP were not displaying correctly. North Atlantic only showed 13, not 15 and Bay of Biscay showed 4, not 5. I can't help what the game saved but I do know what I saw. I am reasonably certain that the game was not displaying the ex-Danish CP in the Bay of Biscay and I am guessing that it was not displaying the 2 Belgian CP in the North Atlantic. Since the game did not save the bug, I really can't provide any more help on this.

Maybe it has to do with the view settings on the global map.

I've noticed that this happens too, sometimes. The "undo" button seems to be the culprit here...

Yes. It is worse than units not showing up on the global map. I have had ships outright missing from a naval combat. I had a whole elaborate bug report written up about this, until I discovered that the problem did not exist in the saved game; that is to say, saving the game and reloading it solved the problem.

So there is a bug here somewhere, having something to do with undone naval moves, but exactly what it causes it I have not pinned down specifically, do not know if can reliably be recreated, and whatever it is can be fixed by saving the game and reloading it.

We have found during Netplay games that Undo can cause the 2 computers to fall out of sync. Units can be shown in different locations and only found in later phases when it has caused confusion. This has been with Land and Air units as well as Naval.
