Thanks for the heads up - looks interesting. I'm a fan of "what if"-scenarios. And beach landings to boot :)

Linkage?

Greetings Lobster,
https://www.wargamedesignstudio.com/2019/04/03/teaser/

Japan '45 (Operation Olympic)

Japan ’45 covers Operation Olympic, part of the proposed Operation Downfall – the Invasion of Japan. Though cancelled after the Japanese surrender in September 1945, Olympic was fully planned and many of the forces preparing for the operation due to commence in less than two months’ time. The southern Japanese island of Kyushu was the primary target, to provide airbases for Allied air power to help subdue the rest of Japan.

Japan ’45 includes the whole of Kyushu island and environs and models the amphibious landings and subsequent push to clear enough territory to allow the air infrastructure to be built. The included 40+ scenarios ranging from small 6 turn scenarios up to large 195 turn campaigns.

All the games scenarios have been built off the actual Allied plans and Japanese dispositions and contingencies on Kyushu.

Japan ’45 is hoped to be the first of two games covering Operation Downfall with Japan ’46 covering Operation Coronet to be released some time in the future. Operation Coronet was the planned invasion of Japan’s main island, Honshu – slated for the Tokyo/Yokohama area in the first half of 1946. Where Operation Olympic used forces already in the Pacific, it was expected Coronet would include forces transferred from the European theatre and a larger contribution from other Allied nations.

We’re excited to be releasing this new title in the next month or two and want to thank Glenn Saunders for starting the project back in ~2010 and more importantly Bill Peters of Napoleonic’s fame for picking up the project, expanding it and completing it in record time. [&o]

The one tailor-made for solitaire play? I remember it!

ringoblood -> RE: A new Tiller/Wargames Design Studio game (4/3/2019 6:04:27 PM)

OH nom nom nom, me hungry for this one, gaming monster [:D]

Anachro -> RE: A new Tiller/Wargames Design Studio game (4/3/2019 8:09:17 PM)

Wow...this looks amazing. 88,000 hexes makes the inner grognard in me very "hot and bothered."

Rosseau -> RE: A new Tiller/Wargames Design Studio game (4/4/2019 2:32:00 AM)

Civil War Atlanta has 500,000 hexes, and I plan to paste enough into an OOB to fill them all [;)]

Just kidding on the OOB part, but very good news on the game.

TDefender -> RE: A new Tiller/Wargames Design Studio game (4/4/2019 4:12:27 PM)

... and still 80's graphics and interface [:-]

Capitaine -> RE: A new Tiller/Wargames Design Studio game (4/4/2019 4:42:47 PM)

Let's see someone make a better product, though.

dwesolick -> RE: A new Tiller/Wargames Design Studio game (4/4/2019 5:27:20 PM)

I'll be buying this on day one. Hope it is soon![:)]

I think it looks great. What do want? The absolute garbage 3d map/interface of Paradox games like HoI4? [sm=vomit-smiley-020.gif]

You have obviously never seen the extremely popular Minecraft.

tdavie -> RE: A new Tiller/Wargames Design Studio game (4/5/2019 10:19:49 AM)

Another email from Wargame Design Studio and the announcement of another Panzer Campaigns title. 'Late war, western front' is all it says.

3d map or giant soldier? Absolutely not my friend, just something at least "decent" like Toaw IV or WiTE or Decisive Campaign series and I could go on...

TheGrayMouser -> RE: A new Tiller/Wargames Design Studio game (4/6/2019 2:38:05 PM)

I know this is fantasy talk, but I would a love a sci-fi tactical game made by a company like JT or HPS sims, turn based , maybe on the Squad Battles scale.

Imagine a Hammers Slammers title ! :)

terminator -> RE: A new Tiller/Wargames Design Studio game (4/6/2019 4:19:48 PM)

Thank you for reminding us of the next release of the new JTS game:

Hexagon -> RE: A new Tiller/Wargames Design Studio game (4/7/2019 1:27:10 AM)

I am interested in the title even when is going to finish in the line of Sealion40, an excesive realistic what if, lets see if at least offer more attractive scenarios and a different style.

Interface is obsolete but still is working, to be fair sometimes graphics cover problems in critical areas and even when PzC has his own problems in general is a solid serie.

Infierno -> RE: A new Tiller/Wargames Design Studio game (4/7/2019 1:52:56 AM)

Will pick this up on day 1 for sure. I hope the next title they're working on is Dragoon '44 or Cobra '44.

Titanwarrior89 -> RE: A new Tiller/Wargames Design Studio game (4/7/2019 2:54:09 AM)

That's true...old graphics but really good wargames.

rocketman71 -> RE: A new Tiller/Wargames Design Studio game (4/7/2019 3:34:59 PM)

Jison's map mods help some, but the UI is clunky at best. But the PzC scale hits a sweet spot for me.

Minecraft doesn't have '80s graphics. These are '80s graphics.
