JReb -> Canadian Sniper Breaks Record - 3450 meters (6/22/2017 6:29:41 PM)

"The bullet traveled 3,450 meters—over two miles—and took less than 10 seconds to reach its target: a fighter for the Islamic State militant group (ISIS) in Iraq.

Those are the details of the world record-breaking shot fired by a Canadian sniper, who has eclipsed the previous longest-confirmed kill by almost 1,000 meters."

Over 2 miles! That's some serious shooting! [X(]

I'm going to take a wild shot here (see what I did there, Lecivius?) and say that I would venture that the sniper had some sort of augmented vision system to aid his aim. I don't think a man-sized target would be visible that far without some serious optics. But a helluva shot no matter how it was done. Nice shootin' Tex. [8D]

For that matter, it's very impressive that a bullet could maintain sufficient velocity after traveling that far -- it was very likely subsonic by the time it arrived.
