warspite1 -> Ryder Cup 2016 and 2018 (9/29/2016 6:51:22 AM)

It's back! One of the great events on the sporting calendar! [&o][:)]

Things have got off to a bad start with Danny Willetts' brother writing that stupid article - did he seriously think he was being funny?

I sense the US have finally decided enough is enough and are going all out to take the trophy back this time around, but in writing that nonsense I fear that all Willett's has done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.....

Even so I will be glued to the TV as usual for this - can't wait.

Here are Ms. Ryder's cups.
I had no idea she was that big in the world of golf.

...In 40 previous Ryder Cups, no team down by 3 or more after the first sessions has ever gone on to win [8|]

Indeed. Hence my bewilderment over your disappointment. Or maybe I got that wrong. I do often get things wrong. [:D]

One can expect something bad is going to happen - but still be somewhat miffed when it does [:(].

It's only because Tiger Woods is NOT playing.

And we were 4-0 down and no Poulter to rely on. Fortunately we have now clawed back some of the deficit. Such gripping, intense drama. There is no sporting event like it.

The Agony and the Ecstacy. The Ryder cup is so unique.

Well, that wouldn't have helped you anyways. Poulters? At a golf meet? A bit archaic, idnit?

I should have known that the merest hint of poultry would have you excited and rushing to the thread faster than a Frenchman can say 'Gallic cock'.

Wow! Spot on - although can you clarify which European player that was an impression of? Garcia? Kaymer? Stenson? maybe Pieters? [:D]

Mmmmm.... US looking good in the final three matches [:(] No idea why Dazzer picked Kaymer.....[&:]

The US pulling away in the bottom two games.... this is not good.

Challerain -> RE: Ryder Cup 2016 (10/2/2016 5:01:17 AM)

As good as the Euros played in the late Friday/early Saturday matches, just couldn't cut the deficit more than 1

There has been some incredible golf from both sides. Ultimately though I think Clarke has suffered from his big guns not firing. Senior players like Westwood and Kaymer sadly just didn't step up to the plate.

On the other hand the US just played better and Patrick Reed is like Poulter was for us in 2012 - just IMMENSE.

So well played the US. Europe need another Miracle of 'Medinah' in the singles - but I think the US man for man have more than enough to get the 5 points required.

Chickenboy -> RE: Ryder Cup 2016 (10/3/2016 3:12:54 AM)

Turn out the lights, Euros. The party is over. 'Bout time too.

warspite1 -> RE: Ryder Cup 2016 (10/3/2016 7:00:18 AM)

Well done to the USA.

In Patrick Reed they have at last found a 'Poulter' type character that comes alive at the Ryder Cup. He was just brilliant all weekend and to beat Rory in that first game was all important to stop any potential jitters creeping in.

For Europe, whilst Clarke was unfortunate that he had so many Rookies, he will rue picking Kaymer and Westwood (although Kaymer actually turned his singles around). On the other hand Clarke added to his rookies by picking Pieters and the Belgian was Europe's top scorer!

There was talk a few years back that the US were losing interest in the Ryder Cup. One only had to listen to the crowd to know that is far from the case....

After three on the trot this was one they could not afford to lose - and they won it handsomely.

Curtis Lemay -> RE: Ryder Cup 2016 (10/3/2016 2:56:27 PM)

While I'm happy we won, I wonder about the obscure rule that kept Paul Casey off the Euro team. And where was Emiliano Grillo?
