John S -> Questions re Change Waypoint and Artillery Effect (3/7/2016 9:08:27 PM)

Two quick questions.

First - When you have a unit already following a path and you then take the waypoint and move it (e.g., you extend it by six hexes), does this create any delay in the unit executing the orders (i.e. does the "Unit Orders Delay Factors" come into play)?

Second - when you choose to order your artillery piece to execute, e.g. neutralizing fire, you can have it fire at three hexes. If you decide to only have it fire at one hex, is such fire more powerful than it would have been if three hexes were chosen?

No delay is created. However this is regarded by some as an exploit.

All barrages will be of the same strength. Having 3 artillery waypoints simply is the act of "queuing" future fire missions.

You can drop more than one arty TRP in a hex to hammer a location.

Regarding arty, does it matter if there's LOS or not by a spotting unit?

Spotted fires are more accurate and thus more damaging. Direct fires are even more accurate, by a factor of 2 to 3 (I don't recall if this means the artillery unit has eyes on the target, or if it's firing on a Direct Support mission) You can read the manual for more information.

It matters a lot! Map shoots can get good results sometimes but a spotter gets good results most of the time and can correct fire.

Good Hunting.
