pz501 -> Decision Games Computer War In Europe? (1/16/2016 1:22:52 PM)

I'm wondering if anyone out there knows of a place where opponents can be found?

The Decision Games Forums (used to be the best place to find opponents) have been down for a year or so now, and Consimworld's focus is on the board game version.

There is also a mailing list that focus's on the board game, and while it used to have some of pbem activity, it has mostly gone silent too.

Blitzkrieg Wargaming Club doesn't really support it, and tends to concentrate on HPS/JTS games.

Reason I'm asking is I just yesterday found out CWiE has gotten a new patch (dated Dec 2015), fixing many bugs and exploits, along with improving it's editor. I'd like to play this again with someone who is looking for a game with a moderate turn exchange rate.

Hi pz501. Check out this older thread. http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3946333

Joe98 would probably play a game or two with you if you sent him a message. Also there was a suggestion to check boardgamegeek.com for people that may be willing to play. Good luck!

Thanks for the tips! I've Pm'd Joe98, and will take a look at the Board Game Geek site too.

pz501, where did you find the patch from December 2015? On their website the latest is from 2014?

I bought this game earlier this year, might be up for a game, depending on if I can get the patch, and what it fixes...

Did you try facebook or googling for opponents for that particular game?

The latest patch is 1.2.18, which is available from the Decision Games CWiE page.

It's mislabled 'Dec 2014' on the webpage, but is actually a Dec 2015 build.

There is also a list of fixes, and additions posted there as well.

Ooops... Between this and shutting down their forum, you'd think they are trying their best to keep anyone from buying their game.

Couldn't agree more. The only way I discovered it was a new patch was by clicking on the link to the change log. Everything shows as 12-23-14, but I think they meant 12-23-15, since the change log shows it as a newer version (1.2.18), and when applied it does provide things the older (1.2.15) patch didn't have.

Sad to say, but I don't think they care about this game anymore, at least in digital form. To be fair though, their forums were under a massive spam attack just before they were taken down last year.

I enjoyed the land war part of the game, but the naval and air components were just too abstract for me.

Same here, but once and awhile simpler is better (for me anyway). That's really what WiE (even the board version) always was, even going back to the old SPI days....a simple, playable monster game.
