Twotribes -> Bombur 1930 game (2/2/2015 2:28:23 PM)

The year is 1934 and the French, British face the German and Russian powers. Peace is currently the State of Affairs and the German High Command has no desire for war.

The size of the map is large we each have a capitol and 8 cities I think we each have 3 or 4 of each resource.

With it being 1934 there are not a lot of tanks to build nor aircraft. Further other then the French 25 MM anti tank gun there are no anti tank guns yet.

The political question is complex, does one build factories or increase fuel production. Raw should be good for a while at the current levels of available production.

The British have 2 small enclaves separate from their Country and the French have one. Both Germany and the Soviets are one unified Country though the Soviets have numerous borders to defend due to the state of affairs.

Twotribes -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (2/6/2015 6:14:31 PM)

Germany added an artillery factory to her Tank factory. Making it easier to upgrade her Infantry divisions.

Twotribes -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (2/8/2015 8:48:20 PM)

Been 2 days and a weekend at that.

Twotribes -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (2/11/2015 2:37:22 PM)

The Artillery factory aided by City production has produced numerous Infantry and anti Aircraft guns. At this rate soon the entire army will be upgraded.

Twotribes -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (2/20/2015 2:13:34 AM)

Priority shifts yet again as the Republic Builds its forces on the eastern Empires border. Aircraft are a must and while we get a new fighter in 35 its range leaves a bit to be wishful for the older aircraft range.

ironduke1955 -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (2/23/2015 12:31:40 AM)

Forces continue to build as soon as we can find a justification for war then we will have at it.

Twotribes -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (2/23/2015 1:09:49 AM)

As should be obvious by German placement of troops we are not planning on being the aggressor. The French meanwhile continue to mass on our borders.

Our industrialization for civilian production continues as planned even though the increasing tension from the French provocative military stance worries us.

Twotribes -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (2/23/2015 1:11:05 AM)

Question? Did they change the general level of seeing factories in enemy territory off?

ironduke1955 -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (2/26/2015 1:26:17 AM)

The French have gone to war some insult over their Baguettes, and where the French go we British must follow. So war it is to the death or at least to the last bread roll.

ironduke1955 -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (3/7/2015 11:43:44 PM)

The Russians and Germans pressure the British and French isolated cities who will be on short rations for quite a while.

Twotribes -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (3/14/2015 9:08:17 PM)

One British city falls while a Soviet city falls. The Soviets were not prepared for war and the British have made a major commitment in Birch guns. The german high command reports that the French Artillery has been mauled.

ironduke1955 -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (3/16/2015 4:18:06 AM)

Leeds was lost to the British one of three isolated British cities at risk, hopefully the other two can avoid the same fate. The War on the main front for the moment goes well with the Russians in retreat though at some point we expect them to dig in Russian style.

falco148 -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (3/16/2015 1:35:23 PM)

Oh dear, this is precisely what I was afraid of. I thought I might've been able to keep the British bottled up around Lipetsk but those stacks upon
stacks artillery must have done their job.

I'm kindof afraid to open the file now.......:-(

Twotribes -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (3/16/2015 2:47:18 PM)

It doesn't help that what is supposed to be mobile artillery is actually better then most tanks.

ironduke1955 -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (3/16/2015 4:45:58 PM)

LOL we are down the road of complaining that your opponents equipment is overpowered as a explanation for the situation on the battlefield, the Birch a early SP gun runs at AT 200/200 the British medium tank is 280/280 the Birch has higher stats against infantry, that is its only advantage. This is a golden rule never commit your tanks to a even contest, that is equal experience versus equal experience because if you fail you have just given a huge XP bonus to the opposing defending tank force. Having done that if those defending tanks then go onto attack moving infantry stacks that have been softened up with massed artillery and obliterate them gaining XP they will become 40+ tank units eventually and higher, and any green tanks you produce and place in the front line, it does not matter if they are marginally inferior or superior in AT stats they are going to be owned by their opponents superior experience. And this being the middle thirties you do not have the airpower to even the playing field. Experience rules the battlefield not equipment.

Josh -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (3/16/2015 8:33:53 PM)

Well said Thomas, well said.

Twotribes -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (3/16/2015 9:07:04 PM)

I never said it was overpowered I made a statement about what it appears to do. 6 of them stopped 30 of my actual armored vehicles and destroyed with out a single loss about 10 of them.

ironduke1955 -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (3/16/2015 10:20:56 PM)

The statement you have made merely illustrates the point I made, those 6 Birch guns have 40+ experience they are veterans they are going to defeat large numbers of units with lower experience before they go down.
As I said all things being relatively equal experience is the deciding factor.

Just occurs to me that if this combat occurs near the French city of Dinan. I have a Engineer unit building Fortresses along the road approaching the city, that is the only location that the attack you refer to could have occurred. So add to the combat that the infantry and Birch SP guns are defending a fortress.

falco148 -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (3/17/2015 2:20:36 PM)

Just got this message when I opened the file to play my turn for this game.....

Possible PBEM Cheat
"The Empire has been making changes to the log filter. He has been attempting to copy logs".

Not quite sure what this means or if this means anything at all. I'm sure its perfectly innocent but I thought maybe I'd pass the info
on to those who know this game better than me.

ironduke1955 -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (3/17/2015 2:34:05 PM)

Yes sounds suspicious to me, I am constantly ignoring players opening files more than once, with possible cheat messages, and I feel no need to post such messages to the forum.
I am not sure what a log filter is (Unless its the wooden kind) or why I would want to copy it.
But if you would like I would be more than happy to forfeit the game on the grounds of cheating though to be honest I have no need or inclination to cheat.[&:]

cpdeyoung -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (3/17/2015 3:04:14 PM)

Copying a log would surely mess up your Xerox(TM) machine! Bark and sap everywhere!

Chuck

falco148 -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (3/17/2015 4:04:27 PM)

My apologies. I thought this was a perfectly straightforward question. I didn't anticipate the sarcastic remarks that it would generate.

I too have had several occasions where I've received messages about opponents opening files more than once Ironduke, but I've just ignored them
on account that sometimes people make mistakes and have to reload files etc. Obviously you have too and you've responded in the appropriate
way (just ignoring it). Also, I too don't have a clue what a log filter is but thought someone out there might. Again, I thought the obvious
way to find out would be to ask the relevant question on the relevant forum.

Please don't patronize me just because I'm a newbee Ironduke. I do not want to end our battle on account of such a silly technicality. As I
stated in my post I'm sure this is perfectly innocent, I just wish to know what the hell it means....that's all.

ironduke1955 -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (3/17/2015 4:53:55 PM)

Well you seem offended, the reason I have never placed a players name on the Forum in relation to the word cheat is that sometimes people get offended by the association. Can't think why, take offence at my sarcastic tone if you wish, its deserved. If you wish for a explanation then PM Erniescwitz Bombur or Vic or any number of tech savvy people a number that I don't count myself in, will give you a answer. I repeat I have had dozens of possible cheat messages on the forum, I am not concerned with the explanation as I trust the players on the forum and there are all sorts of reasons why cheat messages appear and all of them and I mean all have been honest mistakes or crashes of one kind of another.

Twotribes -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (3/17/2015 5:28:32 PM)

He did not accuse you of cheating he asked a simple question, one I asked once when it first happened to me.

ernieschwitz -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (3/17/2015 5:44:55 PM)

I am not completely sure what this is. I think Vic must know, and I might ask him next time I speak to him.

Usually when it has to do with the log files, its because they have been wiped. Which is usually an indication that the player has played turns on different computers. It might be something similar. It might be that a log file was corrupted and regenerated by the system, or that something has been messed with.

Normally these things are no cause for alarm. I wouldn´t be too worried. If Ironduke had wanted to cheat, and had enough experience with tampering with the log files, then we would likely have heard nothing about this attempt at cheating. So I am inclined to believe this is innocent.

Twotribes -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (3/17/2015 7:21:44 PM)

I used to have a problem where mouse clicks would close my stuff. I had lots of results for others where it said I had opened the turn several times.

ironduke1955 -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (3/18/2015 3:44:51 AM)

I am not sure if its relevant I typed a message to another player in game I tried to copy the message so I could paste it in forum, the game would not let me copy the message I had just typed.

Twotribes -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (3/18/2015 6:20:16 AM)

wrong thread LOL.

falco148 -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (3/18/2015 2:15:05 PM)

This will be my final word on the matter as I've absolutely now wish to rub anybody up the wrong way, because I think pretty much everyone who plays this game all appear to be sincere guys (and helpful).

I didn't, as has been previously asserted, put anybody's name in my post. I posted the name of the country. In hindsight this was probably not a good idea and I'm sorry. However this is the first time I've ever had this type of message appear during a game and I thought posting it here was the appropriate response. Also it was not a 'technical' matter relating to the
mechanics of the game itself but a problem caused by a participating player, so again I thought this was the best place to report it.

Just to wrap up, I never 'accused' anybody of doing anything. As I said in my post, I'm sure it was perfectly innocent.

ironduke1955 -> RE: Bombur 1930 game (3/19/2015 12:52:10 AM)

Not a problem, those messages can seem quite intimidating, and hackles rise when you believe that someone may be cheating.
But I and other players have seen those messages so often that we tend to treat them with a huge pinch of salt.
It would be fairly obvious if a player was actually cheating and changing negative results to positive, if that is even possible, replaying turns because they don't go well is another possibility,
but its futile the results are random and playing the same attacks again are just as likely to get you worse not better results,
and of course everyone will get to know exactly how many times the file was opened, I will attempt to contain my indignation in future, but I give no guarantee's.
