aaatoysandmore -> What's happened to the Panzer Command series? (6/14/2014 4:37:01 PM)

It's forum is buried in the dustbin of all the games here and there's no activity by any of the publishers or devs.

Didn't you say there would be a Panzer Command: West Front game? I'm anxious to see a better game of it than CMx2 (Combat Mission 2). I've always appreciated the ai in Panzer Command over the Combat Mission one. Erik? Iain? Anyone?

budd -> RE: What's happened to the Panzer Command series? (6/14/2014 7:13:10 PM)

I have no inside knowledge, but from the posts in the forum seems like the team that worked on the game are fond of the project and would like to continue to improve it. I guess the holdup would be higher up the food chain, maybe it didn't sell well and its just going to be left to die on the vine, a shame really.

Ratzki -> RE: What's happened to the Panzer Command series? (6/14/2014 11:41:09 PM)

I too would like to see it given another chance.

aaatoysandmore -> RE: What's happened to the Panzer Command series? (6/15/2014 7:36:07 AM)

I wonder if Erik or Iain are going to chime in?

Erik Rutins -> RE: What's happened to the Panzer Command series? (6/16/2014 12:54:44 AM)

No news to report at this time, but personally if we can do it right, another Panzer Command release would be great.

How can we make it happen?[&o]

I think the best way is to keep this thread on the front page and at the top. Erik and Iain will get tired of seeing it and make a Panzer Command: D-Day just to get rid of it. [:D]

Richie61 -> RE: What's happened to the Panzer Command series? (6/16/2014 12:21:43 PM)

Bump [:D]

aaatoysandmore -> RE: What's happened to the Panzer Command series? (6/16/2014 2:10:14 PM)

What kind of bump is that? [:D]

Mobius -> RE: What's happened to the Panzer Command series? (6/16/2014 3:41:49 PM)

It's resting, and probably pining for the stepps.[:)]

We need as many different posters as possible, the same handful ain't gonna do sh*t[;)]

Calling all parties interested in Panzer Command.......

Mad Russian -> RE: What's happened to the Panzer Command series? (6/16/2014 8:25:34 PM)

I'll be the second developer to put a comment in here. We have been waiting for the support needed to continue the series.

Not sure how much of the team we could put back together at this point in time though.

Good Hunting.

Alan Sharif -> RE: What's happened to the Panzer Command series? (6/16/2014 8:46:51 PM)

I would be interested in seeing another title or two in the series, for what it's worth. A 39-41 and 42-45 or a West and North African Front. Plus a Far East instalment.

aaatoysandmore -> RE: What's happened to the Panzer Command series? (6/16/2014 9:25:09 PM)

Panzer Command: Pacific War? [:'(]

I really think something like this should be doable.

What is better in Panzer command than in CMx2 and Achtung Panzer?

It seems very moddable, what else is good about it?

The ai and the abilty to have random campaigns like SPWAW. You can take a group all the way thru the war. I don't know about Achtung but CMx2 you can't do that. Plus, even the scenarios you get random units and placement areas whereas CMx2 has to be edited or player made to get something different.

oldspec4 -> RE: What's happened to the Panzer Command series? (6/17/2014 9:39:29 AM)

I'll throw my support in here too..one of the few games that consistently remain on my hard drive.

Agathosdaimon -> RE: What's happened to the Panzer Command series? (6/17/2014 1:16:43 PM)

a new panzer command with destructible buildings! its a damn fine game and thats probably my only request, so really take this game engine as is and go west ala Panthers in the Shadows, 1944 Across the Rhine.

one must ask what is more likely to occur first or ever? Combined Arms ever seeing the light of day, or a new iteration of Panzer Command?

Alan Sharif -> RE: What's happened to the Panzer Command series? (6/17/2014 2:58:59 PM)

Good question. I am 52 in August, but I might die of old age before seeing Combined Arms at this rate. :(

Visible data. Foxholes and trenches.

Kanov -> RE: What's happened to the Panzer Command series? (6/17/2014 6:19:09 PM)

AP has trenches and the new CM too I think. The battle map is not like a miniature table top with some matte background, the operational map is one huge seeamingless map divided in squares, each individual map can have only one operational unit (platoon) at any given time where action takes place on a 3x3 square section, anything inside that area can enter the battle.

What I didn't like about AP was that it only has up to 4x time compressing and sometimes even on that it takes a while to get into action, specially in meetings. Maybe the weird GUI too, although you get used to it. That a HT and pzgrens are one unit, the setting itself. Would have liked more urban fights and better equipment, a better campaign system.

Something is missing from AP, it didn't grab me as much as I would have liked. Maybe it needed more detail per soldier, their names not only the commander of the squad but of all, their individual medals and achievments etc.

I don't know what is mean by "visible data"? that the data of the weapons is not encrypted for ease of modding? +1

The movement of soldiers seem too robotic, AP is a lot more fluid. Graphics in general need improving for a game in this genre.

I don't understand the campaign system in PCO, is it somewhat like Close Combat 3? in that you "buy" units and keep them through out the time the campaign lasts? can you upgrade a unit depending on time period? say a pz4 for a tiger? a Rifle squad '41 for a Rifle squad '44? etc

I guess I would have to try it out if I want to form a good opinion. Does it have any crippling bugs?

aaatoysandmore -> RE: What's happened to the Panzer Command series? (6/17/2014 8:10:16 PM)

No, PC is "perfect" [:'(] bestest tactical WWII game in the whole wide world. [:D]

dazoline II -> RE: What's happened to the Panzer Command series? (6/17/2014 9:57:01 PM)

Pulling a "Henderson Fields" revamp of PC like they did with WITP would pique my interest. Releasing it for some crazy OS like Linux, even more-so.

aaatoysandmore -> RE: What's happened to the Panzer Command series? (6/18/2014 7:21:48 AM)

They could dual release it on a Mac just as long as there's a PC PC version.

aaatoysandmore -> RE: What's happened to the Panzer Command series? (6/18/2014 11:15:22 AM)

Cmon guys we need lots more signatures kinda like Mark Walker releases if they get enough interested maybe they will become interested again? [&o] I'm beggin ya mama! (al jolsen) [:D]

aaatoysandmore -> RE: What's happened to the Panzer Command series? (6/18/2014 7:36:09 PM)

Guys? Oh Guys? Where r u? [:D]

76mm -> RE: What's happened to the Panzer Command series? (6/19/2014 4:18:43 AM)

I'm in. Although I also think that destructable buildings are kinda important, especially for the campaign-style games.

british exil -> RE: What's happened to the Panzer Command series? (6/19/2014 11:21:31 AM)

If the game is anything like the first Pzr Command (Operation Winter Storm) demo I played years ago then I would like to sign the petition.

I remember when the second game (Panzer Command: Kharkov) was released, Erik did an AAR asking for tactics for the next turn, was fun to read and comment on.

Maybe they should continue the series.

Mat
