wodin -> Price? (5/26/2010 5:17:59 PM)

Any idea on the price. I need to see if the missus will buy it me and I will have to tell her how much its going to cost....

Fingers Crossed[:D]

JudgeDredd -> RE: Price? (5/26/2010 6:44:56 PM)

34.99 for DD and 39.99 for physical shipment with printed manual. That's my guess.

Bamilus -> RE: Price? (5/26/2010 7:08:10 PM)

Man I'm looking forward to this game. I got HTTR a LONG time ago when I was like 14 years old. Needless to say it didn't get much playtime, lol.

But now that I'm older I can truly appreciate a game like this.

I really hope you are right but fear it is wishful thinking.

4 year old COTA is still 36.99 / 42.99 in the Matrix store and if I recall correctly this doesn't include 17.5% VAT which Digital River add at the end (plus 4.01 delivery for the physical shipment).

JaguarUSF -> RE: Price? (5/26/2010 8:43:40 PM)

It's:
Digital Download PC Download ($79.99)
Physical Shipment Plus Download ($89.99)
PC Physical Shipment ($89.99)

How do I know? Because it's out:
http://www.matrixgames.com/products/377/store/Command.Ops:.Battles.from.the.Bulge.

And man that's expensive.

Chad Harrison -> RE: Price? (5/26/2010 8:44:57 PM)

The buy now link is now active, and the prices are listed as:

Digital - $79.99
Digital & Physical - $89.99
Physcial - $89.99

With a release date of toady?

Edit - I type too slow [:D]

Erik Rutins -> RE: Price? (5/26/2010 8:48:14 PM)

Yes, it has just been released! We completed the final QA a bit sooner than expected. The price is accurate and I'm sure it's a bit of a surprise as it's higher than the current COTA price by $20. However, with the time each of these releases takes development-wise and the attention to detail required for this level of historical realism, we see these as more on the same level with a title like War in the Pacific now. We feel BFTB is one of the highest quality wargames on the market, period. With that level of development effort, frankly the higher price is necessary if we want to make it viable for Panther to continue investing as much effort into future releases.

Regards,

- Erik

Fallschirmjager -> RE: Price? (5/26/2010 8:52:18 PM)

I am going to have to think about this one for a while. That is a lot of money for a PC game.

Erik Rutins -> RE: Price? (5/26/2010 8:55:34 PM)

That's true, though we believe that the value for the price is very high in terms of how much your actual cost will be for the amount and quality of wargaming you will get from this title, especially now that the full editing suite (including the estab editor) is included.

Fallschirmjager -> RE: Price? (5/26/2010 8:55:47 PM)

Erik, what is the download size?

Topo -> RE: Price? (5/26/2010 8:56:16 PM)

Agree, is a lot of money; i need to think about a little...

Erik Rutins -> RE: Price? (5/26/2010 8:58:56 PM)

Download size is 897MB. The physical version comes on two CDs.

kam99 -> RE: Price? (5/26/2010 9:00:15 PM)

I have RDOA, HTTR and COTA. I would love to continue to support the series. I am holding off because of the high cost.

Chad Harrison -> RE: Price? (5/26/2010 9:05:32 PM)

I just wanted to weigh in on the price.

Erik's comparison to WitP is a sound one. Games like this are well worth the price. Especially in the light of the garbage that mainstream developers release for $60. Paying an extra $20 for a good, solid game is well worth the cost in my opinoin.

SlapBone -> RE: Price? (5/26/2010 9:08:03 PM)

The price is kind of steep, but Matrix makes up for it by charging your credit card once you have completed your purchase.

Yeah me too -I have all the others but was going to make this one the one I really got into the engine - but thats way too expensive to satisfy an impulse - I already have too much to play a too little time to do it ... after taking stock of that lesson I learned when buying Accross the Dnepr this is a no buy for me at that price. Period.

You know Im really not sure I understand the logic of a price like that - theres 3 potential lost sales on this page and four more at the wargamer ... not scientific I know and probably those who dont mind the cost wont post - but I guess matrix know what they are doing - its a game I would have bought to take a look - but quite comfortable taking a pass on it now...

sabre100 -> RE: Price? (5/26/2010 9:22:14 PM)

I was so ready to pull the trigger and I buy almost all games from matrix except a very very few but when I saw the price I said Oouch, what the heck is Matrix thinking here. I figured it would have been $59.99 at a max for download, this is way to much money especially in this economic down turn. I have to think really hard and long on this one but am I mistaken or is this game even more than WiTP? I can see WiTE coming in at $99.99 for download at this rate.

tgb -> RE: Price? (5/26/2010 9:26:10 PM)

Do not want.

I dont think you are far wrong with that price for WITE... still - unlike BFTB - which I have three or four games on the subject (and the whole battle not just disjointed bits of it) so I can pass on this one ... I'll pay whatever is asked for WITE ... happily ... although dont listen to me Matrix ...

JudgeDredd -> RE: Price? (5/26/2010 9:27:26 PM)

56 and 63? With tax that's 66 and 74 - really - OUCH!

I SERIOUSLY cannot buy a game that costs that...Way to much money. Good luck Dave - but I'm checking out. [:(] Very sad.

Jeez I forgot about the VAT ... [X(] - counts up to about six on this page now and about ten on the wargamer...... I honestly can pass on this one - I just dont think there is enough extra here - but I think you made a mistake.

RayWolfe -> RE: Price? (5/26/2010 9:32:42 PM)

C'mon guys. You know how many hours went into this game and by god you know how many hours you will get out of it!

Was really looking forward to this game but at that price think I'll have to pass for now as well.....[:(][:(]

Bamilus -> RE: Price? (5/26/2010 9:36:58 PM)

I mean I'm sure it's a fine game but now seeing the price I think I'll hold off. Especially since I haven't played HTTR in 7 years (and barely played it then) and there is no demo so I have no idea if I'll like the system or not.

Sorry, maybe later!

Well thats the point - I would have bought it to take a look - as a lot of people have said - and that I think reresents the vast majority of sales - the hardcore hours on end players represent a small minority - and this is simply not one of those buy or else games - not with the subject matter nad the lack of a full campaign. These days also its not so much about hours for dollars with me - and a lot of other people - its a case if I spend 30 quid on a game do I feel comfortable if I dont really play it ... yes .. at 75 pounds its a whole different ball game - especially not in times like these..

JudgeDredd -> RE: Price? (5/26/2010 9:41:43 PM)

RayWolfe - I know. I understand. But there's a threshold on price and each person has his/her own threshold - that's WELL over mine...seriously well over. I eeked a game over 50 I think ONCE. But 50 is my absolute limit until I get a serious pay rise from work....I simply cannot (and will not) pay that much above my personal threshold.

Hell I was in the Across the Dnepr 2 forum telling eople it wasn't alot for that game blah blah blah...they rightly said, for them, as they saw it, it was too expensive for them. I disagreed and bought it - because it was under my threshold - way under. I can't help but think if it was 15 - 20 cheaper Matrix would have made that money back.

I seriously wish Dave and co luck...I really do. This was in the bag for me, but way way over my price barrier.

I'll go back to boardgaming full time at this rate! And no - I won't pay "whatever" is asked for War in the East. [:-] (sorry Wodin [:D] )

MikeBrough -> RE: Price? (5/26/2010 9:49:09 PM)

FECK ME! I've had cheaper divorces.

I need to wait for the reviews.

htuna -> RE: Price? (5/26/2010 9:53:18 PM)

Especially with no 'demo'... I understand our niche is small, and sales are not as big...thus prices are higher.. but on the other side, money is tight right now.. and I don't want to buy a game, that I'm gonna end up not getting into (which has already happened to me a few times this year - on the other side of the coin, I've picked up a few that I've really enjoyed)... but at that price... it's no brainer... 50's my limit on all games (reason I bought WITP and not AE)...

JudgeDredd -> RE: Price? (5/26/2010 9:55:53 PM)

I do not need reviews to tell me I can't afford 74 for a game (more like closer to 80 if you add delivery).

I'm checking out the forum now - BftB will not be on my hard drive - not at that price.

I'll leave the people that can afford it and want to enjoy the release of this fine game. Dave and team good luck. Matrix - what were you thinking?

That's my piece said. Goodnight [:(]

PunkReaper -> RE: Price? (5/26/2010 9:57:24 PM)

Perhaps Erik will introduce a discount for us here who have a 50 limit.......[:(]
