Hank,

Paul has finished his bit of the new Estab views but alas I am the bottleneck now. Things are extremely busy here. I will endeavour to get to this next week. I will show you some screen shots then...promiss.

hank -> RE: New Stuff (4/22/2008 8:39:23 PM)

Thanks ... I appreciate the reply and all your efforts.  I've been saving my gaming dollars for this one.

Have a nice day

Arjuna,

I am looking forward to those new screenshots.

Thank you !!!

Txema

Arjuna -> RE: New Stuff (4/24/2008 11:47:32 AM)

Aren't we all. I've been sidetracked this week on other issues like getting the AI to build bridges when it should do, rather than abandoning its mission. That one is turning into a major undertaking.

TinyPirate -> RE: New Stuff (4/28/2008 5:17:56 AM)

Looks awesome. Should be in a blog on your website though. I'm interested in the next game but it took me 5 days to find this thread. Ok, I wasn't looking super hard, but neither did I stumble across it quickly either. Blog it up baby, blogs help build hype and make it easier for your gamer press to get to the latest and greatest info quickly.

Estab Data Views

Hi all,

It's been a long time coming but here are some preliminary screen dumps of the new Esatb Data views. Clicking on an item in the Equipment and Supply list ( E&S ) opens its estab data. Clciking on the Close button returns you to the list. So now you have a quick and easy way of accessing most of the data we store on each item. I say most because its not all. Some is for internal use and some will have to wait till another title. Consider this a work in progress.

Estab Data

The Vehicle and Weapon estab views each have a general and a performance tab. The General view has the name and type, a picture ( if we have one ) and a description if one has been entered. Vehicles also have an armaments list.

The Performance Tab has an array of data. Check it out.

Estab Data Views

We also include the primary role in the General tab of weapons.

Estab Data Views

Weapon Performance data includes three columns of data relating to each fire type.

Estab Data Views

And last and this time probably the least interesting is the Ammo data view.

FredSanford3 -> RE: New Stuff (5/7/2008 3:38:27 PM)

Awesome screen shots.

Quick question: what are the units on 'fuel usage'? L/day? Is that a constant (average) usage rate, or a "only when moving" rate? In other words, does the unit this tank belongs to burn fuel when stationary?

Also, for "Weight" = 730 kg (in the 2nd screenie, 2nd column). That can't be the weight of a Panther tank. What does that refer to? I see "battle wt" = 44800 (I assume kg) right below, which sounds right.

Fuel consumption is litres/hr. Vehicles will consume fuel even when not moving, but at a reduced rate. Faster speeds consume slightly more fuel.

Weight=730 Kg is an error. 730 is actually the capacity of the fuel tank in litres.[8|] work in progress...[;)]

oldspec4 -> RE: New Stuff (5/7/2008 4:07:46 PM)

Looks great!...I've been waiting for estab data game views since RDOA.

Hey, well spotted FN. [&o]

Wow, thats detailed stuff!! Looks really good and will add some serious immersion from my point of view. [8D]

Sorry, but I'm a bit sad and actually find this type of information interesting. I'd like to see how many carried rounds for each weapon here.

Regards

Tim

Look at the screenie above that- the Panzershreck has 6 Ap and 4 HE rounds as the standard load. Is that what you are looking for?

Re: Estab Data Views

Holy sh*t !!!

[X(]

This is good stuff.

To all: I hope you realize this is "state-of-the-art" stuff. We, poor Beta Bunies, couldn't even yet put our hands on it. So you, future paying customers, have a primer. I see Dave still has some priorities in mind.

To Dave: that will come at a price... [sm=00000612.gif]

Erik Rutins -> RE: New Stuff (5/8/2008 5:28:22 AM)

Excellent stuff, Dave - I've always wanted to be able to peek down to this level of data.

Plodder -> RE: New Stuff (5/8/2008 12:11:12 PM)

That's awesome, great stuff. I'm guessing "ronson" in the performance tab for vehicles is the chance it has of brewing up? Great name if so [:D]

IIRC, "Ronson"ability was there from day 1 in RDOA, though hidden in the scenario editor. It is indeed one of the nice touch of the game engine and proves the attention to detail of Panther Games.

Cheers,

JeF.

TMO -> RE: New Stuff (5/8/2008 6:56:53 PM)

Franklin

Yes, but I'd like to see it for AFV's, infantry weapons (e.g. mmg's) and even infantry units (i.e. standard load per man).

Regards

Tim

hank -> RE: New Stuff (5/8/2008 8:43:53 PM)

Thanks Arjuna.  I haven't checked in for a few days but you sure sold me.

That's exactly what i was hoping for.

It looks awesome.  The immersion factor is so important to a map based wargame.  This is a great way to help the player put theirself in the game ... on the battlefield ... inside the units they're commanding.

BigDuke66 -> RE: New Stuff (5/8/2008 8:44:18 PM)

Yea but to have it in the game instead editor only will proof very helpful.

I really like to see some values behind a name so you have a bit more knowledge about the units abilities.

tinjaw -> RE: New Stuff (5/8/2008 11:03:51 PM)

We will need to make sure the descriptions in the estab are useful. Sounds like we need to get a volunteer to look through them.

Txema -> RE: New Stuff (5/20/2008 12:27:50 PM)

Arjuna,

Excellent work on the Estab Data Views!!!

However to make the Estab Data Views consistent I think it would be necessary to let the player view the "Weapon Estab Data" corresponding to the "Armaments" of the vehicles (for example, the "Weapon Estab Data" corresponding to the "7.5cm KwK 42  L/70" main gun that appears in the "Armaments" section of the "PzKfW V Ausf G - Panther" tank of your example).

Will it be possible to see the "Weapon Estab Data" corresponding to the "Armaments" of the vehicles?

Please.... [&o]

Txema

Arjuna -> RE: New Stuff (5/20/2008 3:20:58 PM)

Txema,

We're hoping to, but we have a problem with the Armaments control at the moment. It's not responding to double-clicks for some reason. I'm hopeful we'll have that licked before release.

Note for Paul - I told you they'd want it! [:)]

Panther Paul -> RE: New Stuff (5/26/2008 7:10:46 AM)

Bugger...is all I can say!

Ungrateful sods [:D]
