If you had problems starting the game...

Post by Erik Rutins »

The original installer apparently had a glitch on some installations related to getting Managed DirectX properly installed. We've taken two steps to correct this for customers who already bought and downloaded the game. New purchases are not affected by this issue.

1. You can download the file attached to this post. Open the zip file and double click on the mdxredist102004.msi within. That should resolve the problem.

2. Go to www.findmyorder.com, enter your order info and re-download the game from the store. The version you download has been updated to correct the glitch and should install fine on all systems. We recommend this option if you have the time and bandwidth, since it will give you an archival copy that doesn't need any additional work-arounds.

Apologies for the inconvenience to all those affected, we appreciate your patience with us and your help while we resolved this during that first night and morning.

Regards,

- Erik

As at the time of this post matrixgames are still delivering a "broken" version.

To get past the "Play" button...
Run this file which is installed on your system already...

Yeah, I got the game two days ago and I still had to use the work around. No big deal but I thought it had been corrected. Very nice game so far.

I hope to have another updated version online Monday. The problem is that testing this requires a clean install and to date my clean installs have not duplicated the issue. I'm hoping I'll be able to duplicate and resolve this over the weekend so that we can update the store Monday morning. Everyone who purchased to date can use the manual Managed DirectX installation work-around and re-download the new version when it shows up. The first patch, when it comes out, will also incorporate any necessary fix to install Managed DirectX properly.

I can't get beyond the "Play" button on the menu page. All the other buttons work, but not the play button.

I have read all of the comments about that particular problem for this game on the Forums and tech support FAQ's, I have tried all of the suggestions and workarounds including the patch that was produced to rectify the problem.

tm.asp?m=847407

In addition I've tried reinstalling, I've tried installing directx 09c before running the game installation and that still gets no positive results.

I'd really appreciate some help. Thanks very much
