New 04.04.01.00 Beta Update for World in Flames

Post by Erik Rutins »

Hi folks,

Unfortunately we ran out of time to put this in a nice installer before the Christmas break (that will happen in January) but we wanted to make sure you got access to it over the holidays nonetheless.

It is available as a zip file for download via this Download link.(Edit: link has been removed please use link below)

The change list is included in the zip file for your review. If you unzip the entire contents and their folder structure to your World in Flames installation folder, you will be up to date.

-Edit-

Hi All,

quick edit to what's above, the patch installer is now available here.

As well as The Store Page and The Member Area.

Started a Global War scenario and was placing the units for the United States. Got to the aircraft portion and it froze on me with this beta. I had to use Task Manager to kill it.

I went back to version 3 and it crashed too early in a new game. Guess WiF isn't ready for Windows 11. I hadn't played WiF for a number of years so was hoping to go back to it.

I'm this close to just abandoning the computer version of WiF for good and buying the physical WiF Deluxe board game just so I can play.

C'est la vie

Why shouldnt this be allowed?
79. Added a line of code to prevent the Canadian oil resource in Estevan from ever being used to fulfill a Commonwealth to China trade agreement for an oil point.

Because it completely fouls up the CW convoy lines.

It would, I think, have been better to instead have installed a line of code setting the first priority of CW oil to China to be the Burmese oil, but I think that is what this change was driving at.
I thought I knew how to play this game....

Yes, I have had a few times with trades to France and China both, that the Burma resource went to France and the Estevan one to China... and could not rectify it.

Placed my order yesterday for the good ol' fashioned board version. At least now I'll be able to play.

I really dont like that. you put in some rule, to compensate for a broken production planning

would be better to fix the production planning
the wif rulebook is my bible

Over the past few months I have made several attempts to update to 04.04.01.00.
Unfortunately, I receive the following message:
"World in Flames not installed
Setup has detected that you do not have World in Flames intalled
Please install World In Flames before running this Update"

I assure you that it is installed. I am running 04.02.01.02 currently.
Have I missed an update and that is creating the problem or is there something else?
I do not have the game installed on the primary (C) drive, however, I do have the update file in the same directory as the game.

I would suggest you uninstall and reinstall as that typically means something is missing in the registry.
