why does my airforce during turns 3 for example and pretty much always when i have checked it during months of playing so ineffective with ground support
they dont seem to get kills even when theyre mission was 'bomb' ...at most they do some air disruption..not that much though

is this normal? doesnt seem so scary this luftwaffe :D

There's ground attack and ground support missions. You mention ground support but what you're saying sounds more like ground attack. Regardless, ground support you assign to one or more HQ's and to activate it you have to press "X" (or click the ground support toggle button) which will light up orange. Then in the next combat, if those units are part of HQ's that have ground support air units linked, the air units will fly automatically to help with the battle.

Ground attack mission, at least as Axis, you won't use that much. Mainly to attack airfields turn 1 or maybe some ports later. You can use it to increase interdiction values for enemy units but as a way to kill enemy units it's much better to just fly ground support and have your air units help out in ground battles (IMO).

If you're truly running ground support and find it to be inefficient then it could be for various reasons. You could be flying too far out of escort range and your bombers are getting slaughtered. Or you could be flying too many missions which increases losses (from air combat and operational breakdowns). But I can say that Luftwaffe ground support will completely dominate Soviet air force for at least the first year, if properly used.

ground attack and support both but i was talking about support here
my fighters usually decimate any russian airforce but the bombers just do nothing 0 kills most of the time
gave them 1000kg bomb...altitude 9000...stgs are right behind frontline (supply prio 1 or 2 and pz grps on 4 and inf on 1)
they are joining the ground support just they do 0 kills

You'd probably have to attach some combat log/combat detail screenshots for any of us to be able to say. I can tell you I've never noticed them being ineffective but that doesn't mean you haven't run into bug or there's something else going on.

I'd prob link em from a Dropbox or Imgur or something. Someone else may have recommendations but I don't typically upload too many files.

You can probably post them now. After you have 10 posts you can put up graphics files but not before. You are now at 12 posts so you should be able to now.

There are 2 R.A.D. constr units in the Norway-TB. Any downside when I transfer them to the map ?

TB interactions are not well known or documented. Since they have no combat value you can probably do so without penalty at this time. I am not sure if this is one of the unit types they will be changing in the future.

Thanks.
Another Q: there is the 7th Flieger Division in the WE-TB. 95 experience. I'd like to transfer them to the map too (exchange). Do we know on what criteria "values" of a unit in a TB are based on ? Experience ? CV ? Or same answer as in your reply ?

One more Q: lots of sec hq will be transfered to the garrison box around t7. They don't have any cv but seem to have lots of trucks (?). Can I disband these hqs without penalties ?

Operation Typhoon 41 and Soviet supply

Post by Hardradi »

I know the Soviets have more than one National Supply Source (NSS). In the Operation Typhoon 41 scenario, if I completely surround Moscow are all the Soviet units on the map cut off from their NSS(s)?

Or do the off map railways lead to the other NSS which cannot been seen on because of the map restrictions?

Why does ground element type with id 107 have a name of "Artillery" when it consists solely of ground elements of "(1489) Armaments production (- 1/40)"?

Is anyone having issues in the 01.00.11 beta where the ai just refuses to attack? its January 1942 and the soviet AI has already gotten huge amounts of troops into the field but is just moving units without launching any counteroffensive at all.

I am running the beta and have not seen this in any of my games. Out of curiosity what are your morale settings? If you set AI to 110 does the AI still behave without attacking?

I already played on 110 the entire game. I downloaded the beta in the middle of the game and when I go back to 1.00.07 the behaviour is as expected. They said that the new beta should be OK with the saves from 1.00.07 so I really don't understand why the AI is just sometimes doing absolutely nothing.

Edit: Ran a turn earlier this day and the AI attacked, but immediately pulled their units back afterwards.

Commanders Report - Leader Tab will show you status of KIA/MIA leaders. Might be a hidden column, but I think it's visible by default. Either way, the column will let you know if any of your leaders are KIA/MIA but it won't give any more detail other than that.

The main place to find the detail is in the Logistics Event log each turn in the Leaders section where it will document if a leader died. But that doesn't carry over from turn to turn so you'd have to go back to the turn where it happened to check the log and see.

Lastly, my condolences if you lost Guderian in your game. That's a huge blow!
