Magic supply corridors

This is an excellent game -- very challenging.

I have noticed occasionally that a surrounded Russian unit will have a supply corridor to friendly lines magically appear after my the Central Powers turn. The corridor goes though hostile ZOCs, across rivers & through woods. It does not go along roads. Its length is three hexes.

How is this possible? Thanks
