To enjoy steam AB, should I need to uninstall previously installed AB?

You can have the Matrix and Steam versions installed on the system.

I have the Matrix version, but I would like to move to the Steam version to facilitate purchase of DLC. However, my serial key is not working when I enter it in the Activate Product field. Am I doing something wrong?
