Weapon sounds

Post by Homewrecker »

I was toying around with some sounds for tank cannons that I wanted to replace. I have them in .wav format, placed the sound in the data/sound/weapons folder, and changed the name of the audio file used in my custom database attached to that ammunition ID. When loading it up and testing, no sound plays when the tank cannon fires. I couldn't find a reference to anything specific about the specs for sounds, and haven't been able to find any info on doing this correctly anywhere. Is there something I am doing wrong in order to get these sounds to play in game? I don't see anything different in the file information and what I see when I look at the properties of vanilla sounds.

I recognize some of the death sound effects. Sounds like they are taken from the early close combat series of games. As for the format, it looks like .wav PCMsigned, 16bit, mono, various bitrates in the files I just checked.

Thanks for the tip, they are working now. I somehow did save the first sound i was trying to implement as 32 bit. Changed it and we are good. Adding some more realistic sounds to tank guns, autocannons and ATGMs first, got a few of them done this morning. Really adds to the immersion when you hear the thunder of what real tank guns sound like! If i can get permission from thw original author of the HQS sound mod for combat mission i will publish for everyone when I'm done.
