Improper Animations

Post by z1812 »

After updating to version 2 and then 2.01, my animations are "fractured" to some degree when playing in 3d mode. For instance the explosion animation is not smooth at all. I am not using any mods.

I did not have this problem with the previous versions.

There appears to be a conflict with the 3D graphics and the labels.

Try turning off the labels and see what happens?

Hi Jason,

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately that did not make any difference. I tried turning off all other graphics listed under display, but for the basic ones required, and that also made no difference.

The game is excellent!! I really like the improvements made and new features that have been introduced. The explosion graphic is the only glitch that I have noticed.

Thank you for pointing it out, John.

We'll try and track down what the issue is and remedy it for 2.02.

Thank you for your support and patience!

Hi, I have the same graphical issue than z1812 (I think, because it's hard to describe) : explosions/shots are like "missing" and I only see mess of pixels when they should show.
I tried too to disable labels, and issue is still there too. Same as z1812, no mod used.

Are there any news concerning this ?

Sorry guys, it is being addressed, but not sure when it will be fixed. I had worked on these extensively to remove pixelation and recenter them, but still they are not great, rest assured we are working on it. I have my hands full with 3D unit graphics, but others are working on the animations, please be patient![:D]

No problem don't worry [:)]
I personally infinitely prefer high-quality work rather than rushed one. So take all the time you need to perfectly fix this really great game [;)]
I was only wondering how you were advancing on it, and wanted too to specify that I was having the same issue too in case you would need some additional person to try some things to help you.

Thanks for working hard on it, and again, take all the time needed [:)]

Hello Splatcsh, it is still on our to-do list, haven't got into it yet. But we will.

Here's another version, see if it works better for you? Attached is a new version of the Animate0d.bmp that goes to \Graphics\Units\3D folder, it is packaged as a JSGME mod so I recommend putting it to your mods folder and activating it from there.

Or, back up your existing Animate0d.bmp at least!

Yes it works ! There seems to be still some glitches (like missing "areas" of some animations at some moments), but it's way better !
I used JSGME, first by disabling everything else except the fix to be sure nothing would interfere, and then with some mods activated.

I hope you'll be able to find a "final" fix one day... but for now, it will be already a lot nicer to play thanks to this fix :D
Thanks a lot for the answers & support ! [&o]

Good to hear it helped at least. The whole animation thing is going to be redone at some stage so rather than fixing the old how about something new and better instead. After VN is out, though. Hopefully this will do it until then.
