Bomber Porn - Fifi in Albany NY

Fifi is the world's last flying B-29. She stopped by Albany last week so i took the tour and snapped a few pics. Some highlights:

Tail guns. Single 20mm cannon was replaced by 2 x .50.

Each prop blade is 8-9 feet long.

Flight Engineer's station. Interesting, I didn't know the pilots did not control the engine power, they had to communicate commands to the flight engineer to operate the throttles.

And, of course, rides are available.

Also, Doc (based in Wichita, KS) has just gotten her flight certification from the FAA. She will be joining Fifi soon!

Yeah, she's here in Phoenix a lot. Both I and my youngest have 'prowled' through her several times.

Yeah, easy for you to do you live pretty close now. Must have driven passed it a dozen times (on my way to somewhere else) and never made time for a visit, d'oh.
