The Commissar's House

Post by genesismwt »

ASL Scenario 4 The Commissar's House.

The Barrikady, Stalingrad, November 9, 1942

History: The Sixth Army was being bled white amidst the ruins. The rifle strength
of whole companies was often reduced to little more than a squad in an attempt to
take a single house. The battle lines were now drawn through the hallways of individual
buildings rather than by streets or city blocks. The Germans decided to bring in fresh
specialized units for the final assault; five battalions of elite pioneers specially
trained in street fighting and vetereans of the bitter street battles of Voronezh
were summoned to take the last stubborn outposts between the machine shops of the Barrikady
Gun Factory and the Volga. However, the pioneers of the Major Rettenmaier had never
seen a battle the equal of that for the "Red House."

Unit strength for Human Players (AI player strength may vary. To make up for the lack of sewer movement and booby traps, the Russian AI is given a little help)
German: Squads, HMG, MMG, LMG, FT, DC

My thanks to all you scenario designers! They arecoming out faster than I can play them! In fact, I have yet to play the same scenario more than one time from either side! [&o]

Amazing is an understatement. I feel like I am a teenager again, playing SL-ASL, but this is so much easier in so many ways.

The Meat Grinder

ASL Scenario AP41

Lutsk, Russia, 25 June 1941: In the opening days of Germany's invasion of
the Soviet Union, the triangular area bounded by the cities of Lutsk, Rovno, and
Brody was the scene of a bitter struggle. Army High command plans called for a
rapid thrust to the Ukrainian capital of Kiev, after which German forces would
swing southwards and trap the bulk of the forces of the Southwestern Front.
With the terrain dominated by forests, hills and swamps, the important road
nexus of Lutsk became a prime objective. General Kirpinos, the Southwest Front
commander, was ordered to counterattack immediately, but was hampered by the
Luftwaffe, as well as the poor mechanical condition of his vehicles. Nonetheless,
by the 25th he would need to go with what he had as the Germans attacked Lutsk
at dawn.

Thanks in advance!
