Here is our situation map.

We have:

Recon Plt's 1-3
Helo Recon Plt
Recon Plt 5
Task Force 1-3
Assault Helicopter Force
Supporting Artillery Groups

Light Blue X's are where German units have been fired on. Primarily by artillery concentrations.

Light Blue O shows where German units have been spotted.

Pink X is where one of our HQ's was fired on by NATO artillery.

Dark Yellow shows identified minefield locations. Between 1 and 5 and just below 7.

Platoon 1 and 2 have orders to move towards 8.
Helo Recon have orders to move into the 9,8,5 triangle to recon that area.
Platoon 4 has orders to bridge the river at 11.
Platoon 5 has orders to the 2,3,6 area.
Both minefields are in the process of being breached. TF 1 is assembling near 7. TF2, TF3 and AH have no orders at this time.

Any additional orders or changes to existing orders?

Good Hunting.

MR

To clarify a point on expansions...

We have a tentative plan for releasing two expansions to Red Storm while work begins on the next major engine update and new theater of action. The first one WILL have France, Canada, Poland, and East Germany with a few maps and some scenarios with the new forces. The new data will also cover the 80s and it will all integrate into the Red Storm Module. The follow-on expansion will look at the forces in the North. As for the next theater... have to wait and see.

Continue with the DAR carnage! [&o]
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!

To clarify another point, I said last week that the DAR thread was hopefully only going to be a part of this.

Today it is. This thread is the written part of the DAR.

We have posted video clips of the turns for you as well.

They can be found here:

Nice videos, but narrator voice is to sexy to follow the action

I notice action is fluid enough but we see the top speed or you can acelerate movements??? one thing i like and at same time no is how units move is not by map sections, i explain, units move with no perfect timing, this create a certain kaos sensation and you need trust in AI, good and bad at same time.

Returning to DAR... plan is move in to axis leaving in middle helos doing scout/cover job... any plan to try a cross in 12 point as distraction or if enemy is taken sleeping do a HQ hunt???

Good luck.

PD: 2nd add-on has many options, move more to the north, move to the south (Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, Greece), maybe cover 2nd campaign part with 2nd line units and expeditionary forces from minors (Italy, Spain, Portugal) in an attrition battle with more infantry in less movile battles... options to many of them and few time hehehe.

Moving up the sides and screening Helo's in the center can be done.

No, there is no plan for anything in area 12. You guys have said nothing about area 12 to this point. It could easily be done.

Good Hunting.

Well, in 12 is where i usually do lotery... i dont use a lot of resources and only when add them in other point is not a great improvement, before have them with "locals" i prefer try something in other point, specially when enemy is heavy engage, is a way to test enemy deployment and if he leaves a door open... and of course, do the counter ninja attack job, in the same way you can launch a razzia enemy can do the same searching do max damage with minimum forces and maybe find "gold" in your rear.

PD: razzia

-Occasionally used for certain military raids, such as the raiding tactics applied by French forces in Algeria in the 19th century
-A plundering and destructive incursion; a foray; a raid

If you want to make a raid into the rear possible from that area then, when we bridge the river at 11, we can move over to 12 with at least some recon forces.

I would send TF 3 south following recon 3/5. recon 5 can swing west to 6. recon 3 to check Helmem VP . TF 2 is the question .. it can follow FT 1 (very congested roads) or head toward location 11 with option of 12 or 9 from there. (it's a toss up for me).

AH I would send forward 4-5-9 or 4-5-6.

MR the blue rivers are growing on me; they really stand out at a higher zoom.

also 'Thanks for the videos!'

So then, recon keep their original orders.

TF1 moves towards 8.
TF2 moves into the area of 7 to be able to support either TF1 or TF3.
TF3 moves into the area of where 3/5 are clearing the mines.

AH moves to the west of 4 to bring the area around 5 under observation.

Is that what you have in mind?

Charles does the videos. I just send him save game turns. Works out well for everybody! [&o]

We have taken a hit on our overall HQ and that cost us a bit. We have slipped back to a 28 minute turn.

More artillery strikes on suspected NATO positions. In this game HQ that sit still and give a continuous stream of orders will not be in play long. On the offensive you usually don't have much choice.

I will say it is a good thing to restrict the number of orders you give to the lowest number possible.

In the upper left corner our artillery is striking at the river crossing yet again.

Good Hunting.

Our artillery is not the only ones firing and inflicting casualties. Our own Battle Group HQ was hit hard by German artillery. NATO excels at artillery fire interdiction and suppression missions.

The effectiveness of our own artillery can be seen at the river crossing at Helglarn. You can also see our northern most OH helo moving south to recon in this area.
