New World - A Starcraft Modification [WIP]

Post by Kakuzu »

New World
A Starcraft Modification

New World combines Distant Worlds with Blizzard’s popular Starcraft franchise.

Features
• A “Three Kingdom”-esque struggle between the Protoss, Terran, and Zerg.
• Six Protoss factions including High Templars and Dark Templars.
• Six Terran factions struggling for succession after the mysterious disappearance of their ancient and prosperous homeworld.
• Eight Zerg factions lost without the Overmind…
• Three “Shatkuri” races that threaten to tip the balance of power...
• The Voice in the Darkness that threatens to enslave the galaxy…

The races generally ally to found greater coalitions for a three-way struggle for succession. If every race is present, the Zerg Swarm outnumbers and overpowers the Protoss and Terran states. However, the combined powers of the Protoss and Terran can rid the galaxy of the Zerg for good… unless the Overmind makes its return to the galaxy…

New World is currently a little buggy and a number of things still need to be done.

Not Done
• Assign super weapons to the various factions.
• Create unique flags for the various factions.
• Create unique troop portraits for the various factions.
• Balance the game to the best of my ability.

If anybody wants to help, I recommend posting here or shooting me a message.

Edit: Whoops. Too big to upload directly. Gotta go to mediafire or something.

Click me for download. :D

Cool. [8D] I'm looking forward to seeing this progress.

Just for consistency, Kakuzu, could you edit your title and add either [REL] or [WIP] at the beginning? Perhaps both would be suitable for this mod. It just lets people know that this is an available mod. [:)]

I did not know to do this myself...
and it took me a moment to figure out what those meant. [:D]
I guess I am not up on all the abbreviations

Actually, if I had to take a wild guess, I am the oldest character out here...

There we go.

Lemme know what you guys think. I'm open to all sorts of suggestions and ideas, and optimally, I want to do a release once a weekend.

Well, you have the tools to prolongue some effects...but I'll still avoid the Birar Patch as much as possible [:)]

Thanks Kakuzu. Awesome race images btw. I haven't got round to playing SC 2 yet, but I've got very fond memories of SC 1.

Getting ship images might be tricky. There are ships for each race in the games aren't there? Though not very many I would imagine.

To make things easier you would probably only need to do 3 shipsets and then change some colours for each of the factions.

Shipsets seem a little tricky.

Protoss ships, as seen here are crystalline in nature. Terran ships, as seen here are your standard Terran starships (as seen in most other science fiction). Zerg ships, well, I imagine they're organic in nature, so your stereotypical organic squid ship would work.

Cool images, they bring back my own SC memories. They will look awesome in DW's universe.

As promised, here's the update.

I revamped the races, added troop images, added the Hybrid faction, and included some additional goodies.

Whilst I can understand your disappointment, note that this thread was 'necroed', the original mod having been done back in 2010-11. So it's probably not surprising it's not still there, and if it was still there it almost certainly wouldn't work with the latest versions of the game.
